You never got back to him (that I can see). He had suggested just sending the money directly and left the ball in your court. You continued to refer to the bet as having been made after this and made no objection or effort to make the 3rd party thing happen. You also never made it a condition of the bet.
That's what's so funny about all this. He keeps trying to shift the blame to me. Saying that I actually couldn't afford the money which is why I refused to send the money to a third party. But of course we've shown that's not the case, although I didn't really think it was necessary as I've been doing this for awhile, I was cool with sending the money to a third party which has been verified on the board many times over. He keeps repeating this like we're going to eventually believe him. The tactics that Rush Limbaugh uses on smitty to dumb him down aren't very effective on educated people who can think for themselves. Still smitty does his best to hammer these falsehoods home despite him saying that he'll offer anyone the same bet elrod took. Which tells us that there was indeed a wager as offering someone to take the same thing I took means there's something of substance there to be offered. Furthermore, we also have shown him telling me that I'd be sending him $1,000 directly on November 7th. Again demonstrating the wager was made and that a third party was not necessary. He knows and we know that had Romney won, he would have been asking for money the moment the election was called in his favor. The only difference is that I would have paid since I keep my word.
His excuse that I "disappeared" is even more hilarious. I've been on the board on a semi-daily basis right up until the election and it's not uncommon to find me in "Gambler's Habit" (weird, huh?). It's not a secret to quite a few on this board that wagering is something that, well, I'm involved in. I've taken a countless amount of action from people that I don't know and have never met and people who don't know me personally have also taken action from me. I've never had an issue with honoring wagers on either end. What did smitty expect me to do? Hold his hand through the entire process like Kid Rock does when smitty gets spooned by him under the stars on moonlit nights in Clarkston? When a wager is made it's made, there's no need to check on it on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Dude's a clown who can't honor his own word.
I see three options here:
1. Honor the wager like he should. His welching has even produced an opportunity for a deserving charity to benefit from his lying ways. Great shot at redemption.
2. Be man enough to admit that he has no honor. At least being honest with the fact that he's dishonest shows some degree, albeit slight, of integrity.
3. Hang out solely on the robust forms of ESPN. There are people there a tad slower, a bit dimmer, and all in all a better fit for smitty.
