Grading the Lions

Frustrating game.. now it will be non stop ripping on the local radio shows today instead of a great season opening win after going up 21-3. Only the freaking lions.

Shit.. I am more pissed off today then yesterday...

Sorry I do not post during games very often. I should have this time, because the situation was quite evident to me with the long drive ending in the INT due to a as throw, not great D. SD was driving at will at that point and the S was gassed, having played 20 minutes. With SD getting the ball to start, the D needed a 3&out or it was going to become ugly...and it did. Even up 21-3, there were warning signs that the O was struggling to stay on re field and the D was exhausted.

I agree Tony.. But Stafford in one article said one pick was on him.. I agree with you Tony its 95% Lombardi.. But come on Matt had a really poor game also. We need him to be elite.. He was not even close yesterday..

I think we were 3 for 10 in third down conversation.. Were they all on the first drive?
 
I Have said all long all off season after losing suh it is up to the offense to out score teams because we all know after losing such a great player the defense was going to take a huge step back.. With Levy out even more so.. Our offense has to probably put up 28+ a game for us to get to 10 wins this year.. Austin and the defense were terrible yesterday but hey they did put up 7 points.. Offense still suck around 20... And one td was in garbage time...

Stafford was solid in the 1st half. The whole FOX panel with Long and the boys were all over his nuts. He didn't have great numbers in the 1st half, but you could see the maturity. Even Saragusa and Davis were praising Stafford.

I have no idea what happened!! lol. The whole team went into a shell. Came out flat, had no fire and played to lose. That's on the coaches IMO. Not putting all the blame on the coaching staff, but it was obvious that they seemed lost.

First game of the year and it was in 105 degree weather (on the field). Chalking this one up as a bad hiccup. Gotta clean up for Minnesota or they're in trouble...

Yeah your probably right.. I just wish Lombardi called a better game.

Second and 4 at the Sd 36 yard line.. (Why freaking go deep).. Spread them out like NE does and try a quick hitting running play straight ahead.. I think Matt was hit on the interception but I forget.. Even if we just get a FG on this drive we probably win this game.

He's what we've seen year after year, albeit 2011. It's not rocket science that yesterday is Matt. He has too many games like yesterday which is why he's he won't reach elite level. Maybe a game now and then but he's too inconsistent.
 
IMO we lost when we couldn't stop a 3rd and 19.... Let the dude who had caught 10+ passes run WIDE open across the field.... BRILLIANT.
 
IMO, it was lost in first half with only 10 min ToP. SD got ball to start 2nd, D already gassed and O completely out of rhythm.

No, we had our run stuffing SS covering him......all was good.

Oh, except he EASILY shook JI....who ended up on the ground and Quin stood his ground right on the first down marker instead of trying to come up and make the tackle short of the 1st.

It was a perfect defensive call!
