Frank in the Top 10 of offensive cats: 165x

Edgar in same Top 10 offensive cats: 120x

but remember the big Hurt got most of that by playing 1st base,Martinez was a DH for a lot longer.

Frank: 2322 career games, 971 at 1b 1351 at DH
Edgar: 2055 games, 592 at 3b or 1b 1463 at DH

you may be right, but it just seems that Martinez has been a DH a lot longer than Thomas. When one thinks of Martinez, it's usually as a DH, where as Thomas it's 1b, but I can't argue with the stats.

I was always surprised Edgar wasn't a DH from the onset. He was a horrible 3B.

Not to pro long this but how many of his DH games came after the White Sox?

Does it matter? Or our you saying his numbers were much better at 1st than as a DH? Maybe a valid point.

Not saying but I am asking...If he played a lot of DH post white sox and a lot of 1b as a Chicago player then the DH arguement is a bit skewed.

Lets say he hit .315 with 350 hrs a white sock, but then hit .285 with 150 hr as a DH, I'd say Martinez is a better DH.

Like I said, Valid point. But then many players you'd have to split up like that.

While you're right, I'm not sure other guys would have as much of a disrepancy. Thomas played a ton of games at both and it seems no one here really knows if they think of him as a DH or 1b. Where other guys you have a general idea of what position their high level of production came from, you know?

Thomas is one of the few white sox i never despised. i mean, i hated it when he beat us, but he was such a good player. kinda like how i cant truly hate thome cause he's such a great guy.

Yeah I liked Thomas too. While other players were roiding up he managed to regress the natural way, by getting older.

~29% of Martinez' career games were in the field vs ~42% of Thomas', but since they were both DHes for the majority of their careers, id say we should treat them about the same in this regard.
