Who ya got?

Note: I ran out of options and had to adjust. It only allowed 35 answers.

C- Bench
1b- Gehrig
2b- Hornsby
3b-Mike Schmidt
SS- Wagner
LF-Williams
RF-babe
CF- Cobb
LHP- Randy Johnson

I don't consider some of his career baseball, pre 1900. CY Young I'm referring to. In any event, I went Walter Johnson. Just on stats alone he just blew away the top contenders. Hard not to vote for Christie Mathewson though.

Can't forget Grover. Walter Johnson, Christie Mathewson and Grover Alexander are an awesome trio of right hander starters.

This is tough...Randy was hands down my Lefty..I need to do some research.

The Big Train with a big lead...will both the starters be Johnsons?

I voted for Feller. He took time to chat with me one time...talked DiMaggio...

Johnson and Mathewson get my votes. Well Walter did... But the list is fantastic...I think both had 13 season of over 20 or 30 wins... Walter has 110 shutouts to Christy's 79.... Plus Walter played for a much worse franchise then Mathewson did..

I was wondering about a few omisions, and just read that. This vote for RHP must have the most possible entries.
Where is the 3B vote for Schmidt?
and which poll was deleted?

And a strikeout machine. He lead when he retired. Lasted for a bit.

3b must be on here somewhere. Came down to Schmidt and Brandon Inge (silly me).

I started the RHP thread and it posted before it was ready. Mitch deleted it to avoid confusion with this one. This did max out the # of possible answers!

Yes 3B is on the page, just not included in list of the best ever at positions as you go to next position.
Thanks for explaining about the RHP thread. I was away.

This is a huge list, but it could have been trimmed some IMO.

Morris, and Blyleven for instance, they were good, but not in the same class as Walter Johnson, Christy Matthewson, Cy Young, and Bob Feller, to say nothing about they aren't even in the same class as Ryan, Gibson, Palmer, Maddux and Clemens.

But I can't complain really as the voting has looked good, especially since there is no option for Nate Robertson.

I voted for Walter Johnson. Personally, can't see who or how it is any of the other great pitchers.
Once again, the Negro Leagues had two great RHP pitchers and several that were excellent.
Satchel Paige just might be the equal to any ML RHP pitcher, and also Smokey Joe Williams who is said to have thrown faster than Satch.
and Walter Johnson said that Smokey Joe Wood threw faster than he did.
Pitchers from different eras is just as difficult to compare for me as hitters for all the variables including bigger stronger player.

Walter Johnson
Christy Mathewson
Grover 'Pete' Alexander
Tom Seaver
Cy Young
Satchel Paige
Bob Feller
Gibson
Marichal
Palmer
Maddux
Robin Roberts
Ryan
Mordecai Brown
Clemens
Jenkins
Ed Walsh
Pedro
Perry
Smokey Joe Williams
Early Wynn
Halladay
Sutton
Red Ruffing
Bunning
Drysdale
Lyons
Dean
Blyleven
Niekro

Always had difficulty with 19th century rankings Nichols, Clarkson, Radbourn, Keefe, Rusie, Welch.

Verlander has a very good chance of moving way up the ladder with a full and similar career of his up to now numbers.
Halladay should move up too.

Just my opinion. Some of you might have a pitcher ranked higher, Ryan/pedro, or a pitcher I ranked lower.
