Greg Maddux won't be a unanimous HOF pick...

Gurnick said Tuesday that he excluded "everybody from the steroid era."

"I just don't know who did and who didn't," Gurnick said

Can people who use logic like this have their voting power revoked?

Why not exclude everyone before '47? Who knows what kind of numbers players would have put up if African American players were allowed to play.

I love the irony that Jack Morris did, in fact, pitch in the steroid era. Just not during the McGwire/Sosa home run race that people only remember.

Ruth didn't get 100%, no one else has done it either. Voting has been the same forever..nothing has changed.

Imagine if pharmacies thought the same way as this dipshit Gurnick does?

"I'm sorry Mrs. Jones, we just aren't sure who is and who isn't abusing prescriptions so we aren't going to fill anyone's".

"Your stage 2 diabetes will have to cure itself".

It's the reason why that pisses me off.

Ruth not getting 100% is just funny. Would love to hear the reasoning behind those who didn't vote for him.

Yep. Ruth, Cobb, and all the greats - no one gets 100%. In fact I bet Ozzie got more than some of the greats.

Everyone has different reason for why they vote how they do. No matter which way it is, someone will disagree with it, and someone will disagree with it to the point of ranting.

It's 1 guy with 1 vote, we don't have to like it, or agree with it, but that's the way it is. What good would the process be if you were expected to do something that was not your choice 100% or have your vote taken away?

The guy cast his votes how he chose, and gave his explanation, I don't agree with it, but then he doesn't need me to, because it's not my vote, it's his.

That was deep, man.

You do realize one guy with one vote could ABSOLUTELY make the difference in making the HOF and not making the HOF.....and when the reason is as absolutely short sighted as his is....it makes people lose confidence in the process.

The point, probably because took many voters vote like this. Imo, not taking it seriously.

Exactly.

Will he vote for Miguel Cabrera when the time comes? Or is he done voting for the next 15 or so years?

Not really. In the end of someone does or does not make it it's because he either had enough votes, or didn't. You can't hang it on any one guy any more then any other.

It's a stupid reason, no argument. My point is when people say he should have his vote taken away for voting how he feels (irregardless of how anyone else feels of it) they should understand that no matter how someone votes, someone else will always think it's stupid and they should have their vote taken away.

Remember nobody got in last year, because the field was so full of PED users. So why all of a sudden is it a big deal now?

So yeah, 1 guy, 1 vote. If someone does or does not make the hall that guys vote would be a small percentage of why/why not anyways.

Some number of years ago, I think it was Nellie Fox or maybe Bunning, who had missed by 2 votes or enough to make his percentage total something like 74.7% and the HOF would not round it off to 75%, so he had to wait for the Veterans Committee to get elected.

They let total idiots vote for the President of the United States. One idiot can make the difference in an election too which is much more important than the HOF!

That's cold..

See Kaline's story below yours......so yeah.....one vote matters.

Except the people that vote for the HOF are chosen.

It would be the equivalent of selecting a large panel of people to elect that President.....and having one of them completely blow off his responsibility like this dipshit is doing.

So it's a little different.

The ones who bother me more are voting for players who have absolutely no chance, not even all star worthy let alone hall of fame worthy. And those are the same who won't vote for certain players because it's there first year..

I know.....it makes absolutely no sense. None.

"Yeah, Greg Maddux isn't a HOF'er this year......but he will be next year"!!!

The entire process needs to be axed. Start over.
