I still don't think it's hit me that we won't see another game for 7 months...

yep and college football is done. Thank god for the combine, draft rumors, free agency, draft, etc.

It sucks.. I am tired of the lions always being on the short end of the stick..

i don't think any of us expected a superbowl this year. We won 10 games, proved we could win on the road, found a all-pro calibur QB, and went to the playoffs. Successful year especially after a 0 win year, a 2 win year, and a 7 win year. Steady improvement.

A good offseason on the defensive side of the ball is all that stands between us and being a true contender.

I just don't buy that easy way out thinking... If the damn Giant's and Packers can win as a #6 seed so could have the Lions.. To be only 4 wins away from a Super Bowl is nice but it is just not enough for me.. I am really disappointed in this loss because the Saints defense is almost as bad as ours..

the giants and packers...steelers as well didn't have 40+ years of failure. It takes a while to climb out of the gutter. Teams like the 99 rams don't come along very often.

Jesse its just not good enough for me.. They need to get it done.. The Packers and Giants had plenty of lean years from the 196o's to the 1980's Steelers were terrible in the 1950's and 1960's... Packers had to wait from 1967 to 1996 to 2011.. I am tired of waiting.. it just gets old.. I understand the progression you are talking about but the Lions get to the tip and just never seem to be able to break through. with the way the game is officiated today the Lions offense is good enough to win it all..

the packers, steelers, and giants were well established as playoff contenders before their superbowl run. This is our first year even being on anyone's radar in over 10 years. Huge difference.

You jumping ship, Bob? We won't have that type of talk 'roung here, boy!!! Straighten the fuck up!! We'll get 'em next year!! Always have faith...never stray. If it was that easy, we'd all be Packer, Patriots or Steelers fans.

As ecstatic as I was about the Lions winning 5 straight to start the past season, and their WC clinching victory over the Chargers, the Lions franchise has all too often played the part of "Lucy"pulling the optimism football away at the very last moment from us "kicking" (and screaming) longtime "Charlie Brown" Lions fans. As much as I would like to post to the younger Lions fans that it really gets any easier to take as you get older and older, and the seasons and decades pass by w/o seeing this franchise field a team that is worthy of being considered elite and Superbowl-bound, or is ever close to it, it never really does get any easier to take the inevitable disappointment...sigh.

But I still am expecting the Lions brass to field a team that is improved on both sides of the football next season, and take the next step up by AT LEAST winning a playoff game or two. Anything less and it is quite likely that I will not still be alive when/if the Lions ever play in a Superbowl. If they can't get 'er done, especially with Stafford and CJ, in their soon to be both primes, then who will they ever get behind center that can?

I never jump ship on the Lions I am just pissed.. If other teams can win it all as a # 6 team there is no reason the lions can't. The Lions motto is always wait till next year. I have been waiting since June 7th 1961. You have to take advantages of the chances you get in the playoffs..

Wow, is that shortsighted.

You don't have kids do ya bob??

Since Schwartz's first year we've added on 4 wins each year. 2-14. 6-10. 10-6.

Next year 14-2? :)

I would take that in a NY minute over being 14-3.

This was a great year overall for the Lions...
I think that once things start looking real good, many of us forget taking small steps to get to the ultimate goal....
those have consisted of getting a QB with a great arm, Great WR, solid D-Line, solid veteran help at a couple of positions like LB.
Next in line of improving steps are obvious, Defensive backfield, and O line, and then better depth overall.
Might be 7 months before next season, but lots of excitement in the mean time with upcoming draft, and any FA's or trades.
For years, no decades, it was usually about 1 or 2 players and crap W-L records. These past couple of years have brought more than just hope.
Confidence in Players and GM and head coach.

Sure i do... What does having kids have to do with Being pissed at the lions losing in the playoffs again.. Unlike most of the posters on here i want the Lions to win it all this year.. everyone just seems happy with the playoffs and that is that.. There is nothing wrong with being pissed at them losing the way they did.. Shortsighted????? I have seen every playoff loss since 1970 and i am tired of it... Yeah what is the difference between the 10-6 Packers last year any the the 10-6 Lions this year. They sucked it up through injuries and made a run.. You have to grab these chances by the throat and run with them... What is even worse is the saints defense is almost as bad as ours. We had three easy Interceptions that were dropped yesterday on terrible throws by the great Drew Brees and a TD taken away from us by the suspect refs... I know You can't blame the Refs but i just never see a call go the Lions way when it counts...Like a good spot or too... Gunther has been terrible this year except in a few games.. The game was so winnable yesterday it is not even funny and here i have to listen to how shortsighted i am because we are so young.... Damn it win the damn thing now so you can win more then one.. Nothing wrong with my way of thinking...

Dude, shut up. We all wanted Detroit to win as many as possible. The difference is you're on the ledge and we're not.
