Headed to Bern-a-palooza tonight.

Back to Sanders, I got to say he has a lot better sense of humor that I ever noticed when I didn't see him on television as much as he's been on TV these days.

Unless things have changed, the Democrats have an open primary in California so I could vote for Sanders against Clinton if I wanted to, just like I voted for Obama against Clinton 2008.

Sorry. Back to Sanders.

If we're talking strictly law enforcement incidents, I think cameras (specifically body cameras) and other recording devices could solve (or at least give some insight into) any perceived injustice. There's no reason not to have every tool available to oversee a service that we put money into, with the technology available today there should never be any guessing or unknowns in these situations. With proper recording, not only does it expose bad cops from abusing their power but it also protects good cops from false/exaggerated accusations. There should never be two sides to the story with law enforcement incidents, we should be able to see and hear what happened and judge for ourselves.

I don't think this is too idealistic, but who knows. I think it would at least be a step forward towards eliminating inequality.

I don't care what kind of work you do...no way in hell I would want someone recording my every move every second of the day.

Obviously it doesn't need to be on when they're going to have a doughnut or get a drink or smoke some dope.

You're riding around in your squad car on patrol and when you're going to get out for any reason then you turn the camera on and keep it on till you get back in the squad car.

The problem BLM wants to address is real. I just don't think anybody knows what to do about it. Racial bias has a significant, measurable impact on lots of things. Screaming in Bernie Sanders face or blocking highways probably isn't going to help, but what would? How do you change things to reduce the inequalities (which still exists when you control for wealth)? I don't know, but I do believe denying there is a problem is part of the problem.

It's not that real. The real threat to African-Americans is violent criminals (most often other African Americans). Police shooting account for 4% of black homicide victims and as the Washington Post shows, the overwhelming majority of those shootings are justified. Among whites and hispanics, police shootings account for 12% of the homicides - 3x that of African Americans. From 1990 to 2008, 93% of black homicide victims were killed by other black civilians (non-police). And as much as michturd refuses to acknowledge this, while police shootings disproportionately affect black communities, that is entirely explained by the higher rate of violent crimes in those communities. I'm sure he's going to scream up and down, first about racism then about the attached study coming from the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research but before anyone buys into his hand-waving, keep in mind that the data comes from the CDC, FBI and DOJ. Next he'll whine about the thousands of murders by cops that go unreported - because there are never any witnesses in the hood so it's easy for cops to cover up their racist conspiracy to rid the country of black people by a few thousand people every year. There is no epidemic of police brutality in the US. does it exist - sure, cops are human beings, they're not perfect. Is it the problem the BLM movement and morons like MC would have everyone think? Not even close.

OK. I meant racial inequality, but I said what BLM complains about, which could mean inequality or it could be specific to police killings (since that's what it started with.) So I wasn't clear.

They're public employees, paid for with taxpayer money, privacy on the job should not be expected when out in public. We, the taxpayers, should have the proper records and data available in any law enforcement encounter. If you don't like it, don't become a cop.

Yeah. I think it's a good move...as long as you can keep the Chicago PD from tampering with them (they are.)

And I agree with Monster. The Flint thing isn't racial. I guess it would be better to just point out MC's strawman. Nobody is flipping their opinion on Flint being a problem we need to fix as soon as you bring race into it.

I don't think that's what he's saying - I believe his point is that the emergency manager law itself, or how it's been implemented is racist - because it's only happening in places like Detroit and Flint and only urban centers like that are on the verge of bankruptcy because racism.

I completely agree - cops are instilled with a great deal of power and trust from the public. No one is forcing anyone to be a cop, if they don't like, go work somewhere else.

I wouldn't want to be a cop regardless

At least you narrowed down which pitch you couldn't hit. I just flat out couldn't hit. 'Designated fielder' would've been my calling had such a thing existed.

I think I'd have made a damn fine "first bench guy out of the dugout to congratulate teammate after a run scored" guy.

My high-fives were highly rated.

Typically whomever wins Iowa doesn't then go on to get the nomination

I'd still rather win it than not if I was running though.

I'm watching now but it's kind of slow; I think I'll check back when there are results.
