Trump up 1% on Rubio for second place with 97% reporting in.

Trump is done. Finally.

Also, Bill looks about 20 years older than Hillary. I think they've got him standing directly behind her so you don't see too much of him on purpose. Maybe she should win so she can catch up to him in terms of physical age.

Iowa hasn't picked the winner in a long time. This win means nothing.

It's not about the winner. It's about how poorly he did with new voters. His critics have always said he had a high floor but a low ceiling. This was supposed to prove them wrong if there was a high turnout.

Doesn't matter. It's Iowa. Iowa is completely different from the rest of the country. Trump's going to win a lot. Even if Cruz wins the eventual nomination, Trump won't be gone for a long time.

Also, I'd take Donald Trump as a lifelong ruler over Ted Cruz in the White House for a single day. And I fucking HATE Donald Trump. That should tell you all you need to know about how I feel about Cruz.

Since I think Trump would be a lot more moderate, I agree. I'm just tired of the sideshow. I'm not saying the guy is going to drop out tomorrow or that he won't win more delegates. But much like Sanders, if he can't perform well in Iowa with an almost 100% white population, I don't see him raising that low ceiling I mentioned.

Rubio is creeping into Cruz territory with his "I'll base any decision politically on my religious beliefs." Hopefully it's just lip service.

It doesn't mean nothing; Iowa has a pretty good recent history of picking the nominee and the eventual president.

That said - yes - the Cruz's win means less than Donald Trump's failure to do so - he's not done, but he's been substantially weakened.

Cruz is a weird guy, with a lot of high negatives, and this win doesn't secure him much - it secures him the first win of the actual voting season, maybe a little momentum.

What it does is open the race up a lot more for everyone; obviously most especially for Rubio.

Kasich, I understand, has been getting some momentum in New Hampshire - I still feel he's the most qualified person in the Republican field to be president.

So we'll see. On to New Hampshire.

I see the Iowa caucuses more as a way to thin the herd.

Jeb Bush did horribly, then followed it up with a whiny speech...he has to be done right?

Huckabee dropped out already

Six candidates received even less support than Bush's pitiful 2.8%

I read a story earlier, not sure if true but 6 precincts were tied and were decided by an actually coin flip? All 6 going to Hillary. I've never heard anything like that before.

Yes I heard that on the news too.

Wacky crap.

Yeah, I saw that too. Since it doesn't matter nearly as much as who wins Iowa as what stories come out of it, it would probably have been better for Clinton to lose a few of those even if it meant losing Iowa.

If it looks like she won a tight race through shady stuff, that could help Sanders more than a win would. But only if there's enough publicity about the shady stuff.

Not saying there was any cheating involved with the coin tosses, just that people will assume it was shady.
