Henning on the offseason...

Mitch]But who does it effect? No cap, so if turns out bad cut him.
...seriously? you do know that contracts are guaranteed money in baseball, so if he sucks or is injured a lot we're stuck paying him no matter what, right? we cant cut him and ignore the money we would still owe him.

and stop saying theres no cap, we cant spend infinite amounts of money just because the rules say we can. the team just doesnt pull enough revenue in to support a team payroll of more than like $125 million without losing money. its been spelled out in another thread already.

id be ok if you were arguing to sign reyes using arguments that make sense, but youre making none.

also, his injury history is worrying because basically all the injuries have been to his legs and hamstrings, which is really bad for a guy who relies on his legs as the main part of his game.

Why exactly do people want to sign sizemore again? All i read is how people on here dont want reyes cause of his hamstring...but atleast he put up good numbers while hes on the field. Sizemore hasnt had a good season since the 70s it seems...and doesnt fill a position of need. Am i the only one confused what the attraction is???

I don't think anyone is thrilled about having DY in LF. If we can improve the defense and find a top of the order bat then pull the trigger.
The difference between Reyes and Sizemore is that Reyes is commanding long king's ransom contract and Grady is willing to take a short term deal and prove himself.
If it works out with Grady then you made a great deal. If it doesn't not much lost. If it works out with Jose then money well spent. But if Jose flops, you have really hurt the franchise.

Mitch]And he's only 28 so age certainly isn't a downside. And outside one year, his injury history isn't that bad. Blown out of proportion IMO.
I mostly agree with you here, but a guy whose game depends on speed who has had regular leg issues is at least somewhat of a concern. Also, if he signs for 4-6yrs, you may see him lose a few steps and a whole lot of effectiveness.

Listen, I'd love to have Reyes here, but he isn't without risk is all I'm saying.
