what percentage of my income am I supposed to give to the church in order to go to heaven?
Traditionally it?s 10%.
It?s called ?the tithe? or ?tithing.?
I think a person is also supposed to receive Holy Communion at least once a year, on Easter.
damn...that seems like a lot! (both 10% and going to church once a year)

We have been getting our monthly donation envelopes for 17 years reminding us to give (since we had to join the local catholic because my wife wanted to baptize our son) . Not one time have we received a letter asking us why we don't go to church or inviting us back. It's almost like all they care about is the money!
What a scam!
There?s another thread about this.
He must have been beloved to the posters on this board.
I am baffled by all the bright, good people in this forum who believe that one has to buy his way into heaven. It's an utter falsity. There is a price for gaining admittance, but it's not currency. Yes, the Church suggests that 10% of one's gross income is donated to the parish one belongs to, but it's not a requirement to attend and no one is badgered to contribute. A parish has the same expenses of any business. I give what I can and I also donate my time and talents to the parish to which I belong. It's not just about giving money, and my meager contribution pales in comparison to the debt I owe for my redemption.
I can?t afford 10%. I give when I can to causes. I guess if I?m not good enough for god so be it. Nothing I can do to change his or her mind if it has to be money.

This thread should go super off the rails now speaking of churches and 10% I?ve struggled for years with whether to keep going or not just don?t find it connecting and have any meaningful relationships with anyone and I?m not comfortable expressing faith or leading prayer groups with people I don?t really know have been giving less and less there and more to supporting the infowars crew helping fight the good fight we need more music around here
