Hoops @ Florida

To be fair to the freshmen, we've had a lot of tough games early, 7 power 5 teams so far, that we haven't gotten these guys the experience they need. These guys get better when they play when were up 25, they haven't had that chance much. Expect a lot of minutes for these guys in the next month. Henry was the only one to play yesterday

8 is more than enough to win with absent foul trouble in college basketball. It seems with all the rest of the freshmen things will be situational. Guys like Brown and Bingham can hopefully come in here and there and knock down a shot or two and you hope they don't get abused defensively (though Bingham with his length has already shown he can be disruptive at times at the rim for all his lack of strength). Loyer obviously has some physical limitations. I haven't really seen him get lit up defensively the way Izzo seems to be concerned with, though certainly he's going to see things that I don't. I'm more concerned that some of the times in there he's passed up open shots, which is an area where he's supposed to be an asset. I would still feel better about him bringing the ball up the court for a few minutes spelling Winston than McQuaid doing the same.

Neitzel used to pass up a lot of open shots as a freshman too, he was just thrown into the PG role because we didn't have anyone else on the roster. I think the next few weeks will help us get a solid rotation.

with only 2 games in 24 days, it's probably going to take a bit more time than the next few weeks. Been a weird year with so much of the pre-conference play being front loaded, then this drought before things get back to normal in the new year. One way the schedule could help is not having to play IU or uofm until the second half of the conference schedule. Of course that could be a double edged sword as we'll get to develop and grow against weaker teams but then 4 of the last 10 games will be against 2 of the best in the conference who should also be improving throughout the season.
