Hoops vs Minnesota

I think we are around 15-65 or thereabouts at Indiana.

Yeah.

I already knew who was next.

A road win in Bloomington would definitely help Michigan on its way claim to a #1 Seed going into the tournament.

But the psychology of the team that I have observed, makes me think that these guys, in their own minds, need to play as a unit that has nothing to lose.

IU is playing worse than everyone in the Big 10 except PSU right now. They have lost 5 in a row and now Devonte Green is suspended indefinitely.

Ripe for a win at Assembly. Let's make some shots.

JB on the offense's struggles. Nails it:

The cure for the offensive struggles of late, according to Beilein, is for his team to deepen its understanding of team basketball.

“Here’s what they’re all trying to understand the most: what team basketball really looks like. People are gonna guard you in different ways. They’re gonna guard you. If you’re up there and they intentionally walk you, you can’t hit a home run that day because they intentionally walked you. So, you gotta get to first base and make the best of it.

“They have to continue to grow in that area to understand just that we gotta continue to work together, find the best shot. Find the best shot for Michigan. That’s the biggest thing.”

Yeah, it was only a matter of time before other teams caught up to us.

I think it's going to be bumpy for a couple weeks until we figure things out

Maybe Iggy has hit a freshmen wall ? He forced through it last night .
But he still had a double double last night. Even though he was 4-18 shooting. It is weird how in recent games it is different guys that don’t hit their regular season average not just one guy. I would say only Teske has not hit a slump yet. He is been real consistent.

Poole, Matthews, and Iggy are all going 1 on 1 too often right now. They have the ability to do that, so it's fine in spots. They just need to back it off some. Poole really needs to start taking shots when he is open. Instead of letting it fly, he's pump faking all the time and trying to drive or get to a step back 3. Making life more difficult on himself.

Way to completely ruin the magic of ?January Madness?

Yep

You simply cannot get excited in sports anymore. I know replay is great, it makes sure that the refs make the right calls, but it completely ruins the game.

Then in the post game, the guy interviews Matthews and makes a comment about how calm he is. Well, no shit. He was excited at first, but then he realized they would have to review it and then they all sat there for 10 minutes. Then the ref made a wave off motion. The players all looked at the ref like he waved off the basket. You could see JB ask him if he was waving off the basket or if the game was over and then the ref clarified that the game was over.

At that point, you finally find out that you won the game, but it's pretty hard to get excited all over again.

It was also one of those games where you're excited to pull out the W, but the team is still a bit upset with itself because they know they didn't play/shoot well. Defense was great, but as a basketball player you're going to be at least a bit upset when you have a shitty shooting night.

Or it sounds like last Saturday when Michigan visited another struggling team.

I don't know about that. I think the players understand more than anyone that some games are going to be a struggle and they are happy to win.

Fans sit around and over-analyze shit.

I used to play. Trust me, players get frustrated with themselves even after a win. You still understand some games will be a struggle, but you vent with each other about open looks you should have hit after a poor shooting game. It's cathartic and helps you get it off your chest and move onto the next one.
