Hoops vs MSU

These brackets were already in place before the outcome of the big 10 championship game was decided.

Even though Michigan got fucked on a bad call at the end of the game, the outcome is the outcome, and the Spartans kind a got fucked on their seeding.

KenPom and others had them as the top 2 seed if they won. Not sure how accurate that is.

We lossed because we didn’t develop a bench this year.

Just can’t blow a lead like that down the stretch.

Nope, MSu beat Michigan, because Poole sucks on D. McQuaid was his assignment and the gimp went off.

AND

there was another stupid, bad call near the end of the game.

JB couldn't develop a bench bc none of those freshmen were ready. Iggy was the only one ready to roll at this level.

Maybe but he wasn’t the only one guarding Mcquaid. But your wrong on the bench.
Not one of the freshmen developed other then Iggy and he probably goes pro after
This year. That really hurt us all season after teams figured us out. I mean he flashes
The dollar sign and his muscles a lot in games. That is perfect for the nba or G league.
He probably ends up in Europe. He is way better then Poole who should know better but he has many brain dead possessions in games. He and a bunch of guys just go hero ball when things start to fall apart. That part of tbe offense is frustrating to watch.

Jb made the final four last year and your telling me all he can land is 1 impact freshmen out of 5 Freshmen. I’m frustrated. I guess we can always hope Nunez(3), Johns jr (20) Dejulius (14), and Castleton (21 can all score over 60 points combined next season. Because so far this year they are two short. Iggy (493 not sure today’s game is in there) is great . Guess I have to be patient, and hope the others contribute next season.

This team is only losing Matthews. No way Iggy goes anywhere unless Michigan goes on a huge run and Iggy goes off in the tournament. I'd take that.

McQuaid was Poole's primary assignment. Every time McQuaid nailed a 3, you could see Poole sagging off and then his shoulders would slump. Later in the game, Z was yelling at him about it.

it happened like a half dozen times. it was really nuts. there was at least one other time it happened but Winston didn't see a wide open McQuaid (instead he drove for 2)

Poole more or less cost us the game. everyone else played good enough to win, especially Teske, who played lousy in the first two outings

If what you said is true then our defensive coaches are at fault for failing to adjust to the hot player. Livers and Teske could guard the bigs. Simpson on Winston. Put Charles on Mccantmiss, and Poole on the leftover guy..

Also our offense bogs down has to be because that last year we had a much more experienced team..Robinson a senior, Maar, a senior, Wagner Junior starting with Sophomore Simpson, and freshmen Livers. That was the title game roster.

Team is super young but we need a impact rebounder from somewhere.
Poole . Sophomore that does freshman mistakes sometimes.
Mathews . Senior.
Simpson junior.
Teske junior.
Iggy freshmen.

Bench livers Sophomore.
We have to say right now jb’s Freshmen class is a failure. Other then Iggy we only received 58 points from the other four guys. That is not good enough. I will trust in Jb like you always tell me to do but another impact freshman and this years team is a final 8 type team in my opinion. I am really tired of the Davis, Donal, and Castleton, Nunez type recruits. You can’t tell me there are not other guys out there that Michigan could have gotten. I am just frustrated. I love Castleton Height and length but they had to know he would have no shot at getting any many minutes with that frame. Johns jr is a puzzle to me. He has enough skills to be decent and he never saw the lineup at all. David is a guard and like all guards the first year is a struggle.

I'm not worried about next year, AT ALL.

JB has done a superb job of developing players, and everyone on this roster now is proof of that.

there's also usually a sophomore bump, and we really only lose Charles Mathews, so imagine virtually teh same starters as this year, but better, with Livers in Mathews' place, and DeJulius, Johns Jr, Castleton, Brooks, playing better and providing some scoring off the bench. We saw some ability from each of them at times this year.

I think - on paper & as of now - that looks like a better team than we have this season. Much deeper.

I think you're being a little harsh here Bob - first, most recruits have committed well before the tournament and they've signed letters of intent so it's not like a deep run can have much impact on the next incoming class. Second, his 2018 freshman class is pretty solid and deep but his offense isn't a simple plug and play offense where you can just stick talented kids in there and expect them to perform (look at Poole). They were virtually all the #1 option in high school and now they have to be a committed team player when they're used to being a black hole on offense. Now they have to understand the flow, motion, where to be, where to go w/ the ball, all at a much faster pace than they're used to. It looks simple enough when it's run well but I doubt it's easy for a 18 or 19 year old kid who is used to basically being a solo act to get up to speed on. Then on defense, they have to be able to guard someone who is very likely at their level or better man-on-man for 20+ minutes.

I think fans should be more surprised and much happier when they get an Iggy than disappointed that a guy like Johns Jr. didn't have the same impact.

Can't say the class was a failure. Wait until these guys are juniors. If they are still bums, then the class was a failure. Not every freshmen can come right in and contribute. Teske didn't do shit for a couple of years, was a decent back-up last year, and now he is finally good.

I didn’t see enough from those guys. Other then Iggy they only scored 58 points between , Nunez, castleton, DeJulius, and a Johns jr. that is my whole point. Another impact freshmen this team would be something. I guess it is hard to get top guys to come to Michigan like Duke and Unc, and Kentucky.

What if Mathews decides to stay ? He was asked on his senior night about that and he was pretty coy about going pro. Now that his draft stock is dropping like a rock it might be in his best interest to stay.

I've read elsewhere that there is no way he is staying. He has already graduated. I guess things might change, but I wouldn't bet on him staying.

Someone else on the team needs to leave, too, whether it be by going pro or transferring. There isn't enough room for the class coming in.

IF Matthews were to stay, they'd have to get rid of 2 people.

I think going into the season, we all kinda new this would be a down year. Then, they absolutely defied expectations with the start. I think the latter half of the season was more representative of what this team is.

In truth, I think this is one of Beilein's better coaching jobs, which is a weird thing to say. There is really no one outside of Iggy that can get his, and even he struggles on occasion. Getting a 2-seed with the talent they lost is pretty impressive. They do not have the horses to win this year, but next year could be lining up very nicely.
