Hoops vs PSU

Some of the blame does lay on the shoulders of Howard, imo. He has to get this team to play better defense. Over the last couple years, the defense created many offensive opportunities and kept the team in the game when the dreaded 5 min droughts hit. Teams score at will with no end in sight.

That is just not true about attacking the basket. When the outside shot isn’t falling you have to try other things.

Coaching
our Defense isn’t close to last years defense. Head coach has to help his kids.
Yaklich sure did make a difference.

Losing Livers has destroyed the rotation bc of the roster makeup.

Castleton is unplayable so we have to have Davis play. Davis is extremely limited. Teske has to play ridiculous minutes bc of this.

Johns is forced to start with no backup 4 on the roster.

Playing three 6' PGs together equals not being able to guard anyone. Guys can just shoot over them.

Bajema is too weak to play.

Nunez is unplayable.

I guess we could start throwing some walk-ons out there!

Jones 18 second half points. His most ever. Someone always torches us.

Wagner just killed us tonight.

Psu Bench out scored us 34-4.

I was really hoping Howard would try to keep Yaklich and Michigan would pay him more to keep him. He would have really helped.

I guess our outside shooting early this season was fools gold even with Livers.

Simpson and Teske have both regressed on offense and defense sadly this year. The turnovers are killing us. He has to be a point guard first.

UM needs Livers back in a big way. Simpson and Teske are complementary offensive pieces who are having to shoulder too large of a load.

The dropoff defensively is pretty surprising since Simpson and Teske even last year were two of the more significant pieces there (along with Mathews). I've seen quite a few point guards abuse Simpson this year.

UM needs to manage the minutes of their top 3 guards/wings better, Brooks, Wagner, and Simpson are all playing crazy minutes the last several games 36, 37, and 39 minutes a night. Shooting slumps this time of the year are always because of dead legs. I don't care how bad Nunez and Bajema are, you've got to play them for 4 or 5 minutes a game to give guys a rest. Dejuilius needs more minutes too. The Big Ten is brutal, there are going to be no times to rest, playing your key players these minutes right now is suicide because they are unlikely to recover the rest of the way.

Crazy times, but I agree with Johnny2X

DD and Bajema have to get more minutes. I do disagree about Nunez. I'd rather see a walk-on in there than him.

Simpson aka Mr Dribbles is having a lot of trouble. That is me being nice. He loves to dribble around for 20 seconds and then there is 5 seconds left to try to get a shot. This happens way too often when Michigan is behind and needs to score quickly. Wastes an entire shot clock, gets a horrible look for himself or someone else and he or they miss. He's been at Michigan 4 years. They leave him wide open at the 3 point line, because he can't hit a wide open 3. He is not 6 foot tall. He can't shoot free throws either when he finally gets his chances, which is rare.

Teske is 7' 2" and has a 1" vertical. He's been at Michigan 5 years now, right? Still can't jump more than 1 inch. Please never shoot another 3 pointer. Looks horrible shooting them. ANother one that they just let shoot them, because he can't hit a lick. Don't quote his % to me. He does hit some in blow-outs against shit teams. 0-3 last night. Looked horrible on all of them. When he shoots a 3 pointer, then you know he isn't under the rim and won't have a chance at any rebound, not that he is much of a threat to ever get an offensive rebound, but at 7'2", he should get some just by dumb luck. He is fatigued as all hell, because moving that much mass for that long is tiring.

Man! I could go on, but I'm running out of steam

last night was horrible, horrible basketball.

I agree with Johnny and hungry. Plus there is a a lot more both can say like H said.
