Hoops

I don't know what is going through izzo's head today. Why in earth is Kohler not in??? He's been your only 3 pt shooter today

Agreed, but it was inevitable that the slow starts would cost them eventually.
Yeah we’ve been dreading the slow starts since the west coast trip debacle but still, as bad as we played if we even shot a mediocre % we probably win this game or it at least a 1 score game coming down to the wire.

Of course, it would be better to play at peak levels and be the team up by 9 inside 3 mins but to me the difference b/w this game and the Ole Miss game where we also played poorly was we shot like shit tonight.

It would have been nice to have played our best game but we didn’t need to win tonight. We probably didn’t get Auburns best game either but they’re not an obviously better team than us in my view.

Also worth noting - it’s been a shit tournament in terms of surprises/upsets. There weren’t even many “almost” big upsets.

I saw a team that played not-so-well and still stuck to the #1 overall seed. If they played their best, what would the margin of victory have been?

Who knows? It's been awhile since they've played their best basketball. Had several games where they played great the last 15-25 minutes but we didn't really even do that in the tourney.

It was a great season where we massively outperformed expectations (picked 6th or 8th in the B1G if I'm not mistaken) but it still sucks to lose a winnable game. Until we had to foul, we were on pace to hold the #1 team in the country under 70pts - they average 84. I haven't watched a ton of hoops this year but to me Auburn looks like a distant third to Florida and dook.

Well, I have considerable respect for MSU basketball. From my earliest years of following college basketball, going back to Gus Ganakas, MSU has always exhibited a large measure of the grit and grind to which I connect.

"...there is no doubt that Spartan Basketball wouldn’t be what it is today without Gus Ganakas." Tom Izzo.
