And I still am but I have never been more frustrated than I am right now.

There are posts out there now that make it sound like anything short of LOIC, and NCAA will face revolt from Columbus. If Gee doesn't drop Smith, he might be next.

Understood........just curious, where do you channel your ire, if anywhere?

J.T., Scandals, Gene Smith, present coaching, depth, or do you merely declare this a down year?

i've been saying it for a while now and I'll say it again...Fickell is gone after the year is over and Dantonio will be joining the buckeyes, killing Sparty like Saban did.

That will just feed Sparty's inferiority complex. "We're elite...MSU isn't a stepping stone for coaches..." Keep telling yourself that Sparty. With that said, UM better lay the smack down on Dantonio this season. Imagine if that smug bastard gets away undefeated against UM...

Blame TTUN! It's a conspiracy! c-o-n...spiracy.

Silver is good people for sure and today was weird. I wonder if there wasn't some impact on the game coming from 'lockerroom rumors' this past Saturday..?! Some folks said T_Peezy2 left because of this very news .....not that Oakland is a better option.

carr beat him. remember the "little brother" comment by mike hart? remember dantonio's reaction?

I don't think the Buckeyes would go after a coach with a recent heart attack.. They are going super hard at Meyer..

what? didn't meyer have a heart attack before he left florida? Meyer isn't going anywhere near that school and dantonio will be a nice consolation prize for the buckeyes. He knows he'll never consistently win in MSU no matter what he does.

Ahh, yes.. It's been too long man...

Yeah I think OSU is in big trouble... I think they will lose 2 of the next 3 and possible all three ... At Nebraska, at Illinois, and home to Wisconsin... If that happens the season will really implode to a possible lossing record... Personally I think OSU deserves what is happening. I never thought Tressel was on the up and up.. he skirted the rules at youngstown st and he was not clean in his years at Osu. Clarett, Smith, Pryor and many other players and minor violations... He is a great football coach but winning is ll he cared about.. At all cost... I will be pissed if they do not get a major probation but it looks like they may skate.... So no amount of losses to to few... This makes me respect John Cooper so much more then Tressel... Woody Hayes would rip Tressel face off if he could get out of his casket... Sorry that That is how I feel..

IMO it was a fabricated story.. Meyer spoke of chest pains, while Dantonio legitimately had a heart attack.. I just don't think he'll be the Buckeye's first choice..

O$U may offer Meyer, Dantonio, and others...doesn't mean they'll sign up to take over that mess. After all the rumors and turn downs before RR and then before Hoke, I wouldn't be surprised to see O$U scampering around trying desperately to find someone...especially if under sanctions.

That is a complicated question. The cop out answer is that there is plenty of blame to go around. The real answer is that I would start by firing Gene Smith. I believe every elite level football program has its skeletons and bad apples. I also believe it is impossible to run a truly clean program. What I am concerned with is how my program responds when these situations are discovered. In this case, as soon as the Jim Tressel situation came fully to light, the athletic department should have gone into overdrive to audit every aspect of the program. This should have been the cleanest team in football this year. Smith seems to be more interested in damage control then getting the [censored] situation resolved. To be sure the players and coaches share the blame but we have to start somewhere.

Even if you look at this situation from a purely business perspective, Smith should lose his job. The cash cow program is at risk and Smith's leadership has done nothing to help the situation and has likely hurt our case. I cannot believe the board of trustees will allow him to put the program at risk by continuing to bungle this situation.

As far as this season goes, it will obviously be hard to watch for Buckeye fans but that is the least of my concerns. So things like depth, recruiting, play calling, and handling personnel are frustrating but not the real problem.

At this point, Luke Fickell is a lame duck but I don't really blame him. He is in an impossible situation and simply cannot succeed. No one could. Its sad because I felt like given the right situation he could have been a solid coach.

I think the bigger question will be who is the AD at season's end. If it is Smith, then Ohio State will be pushing hard for a big name like Meyer, Gruden, or Stoops.

Meyer to OSU is not so far fetched. He is from Ohio and was a graduate assistant here. Ohio State is one of the schools he had an "out" clause for in his contract at Utah. On the other hand, if he is concerned about his health and/or having time to spend with family then Ohio State is not the right choice.

That is an excellent point. It is my nightmare scenario in terms for the end of the season.

Depends.. I think if they get the same penalty USC got, then they can still land a big time coach.. OSU is a top 10 job at worst, with or without sanctions.. Besides, Miami is probably getting most of the attention from the NCAA anyways..

I don't think there is any way Meyer goes to ohio - unless Smith is gone, and he is given some strong assurances the administration will fight the battles with the boosters; he won't have to.

I've said it before, in light of the way Meyer left Florida, his comments as to the sleaze surrounding SEC football, visiting the Vatican, etc. it's clear to me that was why he left coaching. He's not going to go to ohio now... that would be like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fryer.

Will be interesting to see which way ohio goes with their next hire.

given who is in charge there, I don't really see them hiring a strong leader with a potential for longevity in that environment, like Woody Hayes. Case in point: they already made a terrible mistake naming Fickell the interim coach; he was clearly too young for the job, and this whole experience will end up ruining his reputation there for good. They should've named an older staff member who would at least be able to command some seniority there.
