They will be the 21st franchise to win the World Series since 1979.

10 teams (incl Texas) have not won the WS in this period and 8 have never won a WS.

Cardinals are now in the same situation as the Tigers were vs the range rovers, needing to win Games 6 & 7, but at least they will be at home.

Winning the game Carp started was huge for Texas. He is the only real front line starter for either team.

People like to bitch about Leyland but holy shit La Russa has been awful this series after pushing all the right buttons up until now.

And just who are the 8 teams that have never won a World Series?

AL: Rangers, Rays, *Mariners

NL: Padres, Brewers, **Nationals, Astros, Rockies

* Seattle's MLB franchises/teams (including the one-season '69 Pilots) also have the VERY dubious diSTINKtion of having never even appeared in a World Series (esp. considering their '01 record-setting 116-wins during the regular season..

**The Nationals also have never appeared in a World Series, however the franchise location is now in DC, and is relatively "newer" having formerly been located in Canada as the Montreal Expos.

The World-Series-less MLB Mariners are somewhat similar to the NFL Lions, the latter that has yet to play/appear in a Superbowl, however, the Lions being an older franchise has won several NFL championships.

Same goes for the World Series-less MLB Nationals/Expos, and the NFL Browns, since the original Cleveland Browns franchise moved to Baltimore in '96 and became the Ravens, who ironically and soon afterward, accomplished what the Browns in Cleveland never could, by playing in and winning the '00 Superbowl XXXV...bwaahaha!!

Mitch[/color]]How so? I haven't watched a game.

Hit and run with 0 outs down by 2 in the bottom of the ninth.

IBB to Cruz (who hasn't been as hot as in the Detroit series) with Young on second and 1 out, thus ensuring Napoli (who has been red hot) would see the plate with men on, unless Daniel Murphy GIDP.

There was also a big fuck up with La Russa and the bullpen getting on the wrong page and warming up the wrong relievers. Good link here --> http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-passan_world_series_game_five_la_russa_102411

It's no surprise he and Leyland are best buds, they seem to pull the same crap that leaves others puzzled.

Had it not been for the strike that knocked out the WS back in the 90s, you'd be hard pressed to NOT see those Expos in the World Series. That team was loaded. Solid pitching, Larry Walker, Marquis Grissom and others...they were a hell of a team. And then they all disappeared into greener pastures, and poof went the Expos.

The premier (governor?) of Quebec did not want to finance a new stadium for an American sport and basically pushed them out of town. I remember seeing interviews with him...he was a major asshole

Neftali Feliz blows the save and the WS win on a 1-2 pitch in the bottom of the 9th on a two-run triple by the Crudinals Freese w /two out and the ranger-rovers leading 7-5, then the Crudinals' Motte gives the two runs right back in the top of the 10th on a two run homer by Hamilton....bwaahaha!!

::)

Curds tie it up in the bottom of the 10th on consecutive singles by Descalso and Jay, an RBI groundout by Theriot, and a IBB to Pooholes then an RBI single by Berkman...but thats it, as the Cruds couldn't push across the winning run, Craig grounds out with runners on 2nd and 3rd...

Freese walkoff homers on a 3-2 pitch leading off in the bottom 11th, Curds win and there will be a game 7.

LOL @ the range-rovers!!

Freese drives in the first 2 runs to tie it up at 2-2 in game 7. This guy is becoming an epic world series hero.

I hate Texas. I hate their ridiculous BABIP against the Tigers, I hate that Nelson Cruz decided to go ape s#$@ against the Tigers, I hate Ron Washington jumping up and down like a crazed coke head like once every half inning, I hate seeing shots of Nolan Ryan high fiving everyone in his vicinity, I hate their seeming adoration for George Bush, I hate their fluketastic HR rate against the Tigs, I hate fox constantly sucking them off, I hate that complete moron Durrett on ESPN leading every game chat and constantly making homerific comments on what should be neutral discussions like letting every idiot Rangers fan with a stupid self serving opinion get a say.

I will be very very happy to see the Cardinals win this series.

This will be my favorite post of the day, I agree with all the rangers shit, just not as very very happy for cardinals. they are a half step below all the rangers crap as most shithook team and media suckups.
