Football should never be considered more important than family. Record the game and watch it when it is convenient for everyone, even if it means staying up till 1am. It is only a game, family is life. If you don't realize that, then you probably are fortunate enough to not have had an important loved one pass away yet. Don't wait until then to realize the hierarchy. Unless you have a time machine so you can go back and relive the family interaction.

My dad passed away 9.5 years ago and I was close to him. Watching the Lions play is important to me and it will continue to be important to me. Like I explained already they can schedule their shit on another day during the NFL season. I do stuff with my family on Saturdays during football season. When my mom and sister, etc. asks which day should we get together I say Saturday...or I can't do Sunday. It's a really easy solution.

I think you're taking all this a bit too seriously. I can't speak for everyone, but I think the general thought is that none of us like to have B.S. events scheduled during Lions games. I don't think anyone here is saying it's MORE important than family.

I certainly care more about watching football (specifically the only team I root for) over any bullshit family event that needs to be scheduled on Sunday during football season. Now if the Lions had a bye week or aren't playing then schedule whatever you need to schedule and I'll attend. Other than that, schedule it on Saturday (or any other day of the week) instead and I'll attend.

I also only do that for the NFL. The play once per week. That's it. If you miss the game then you have to go another week before you see the next game. Even though I love all the other sports as well I will choose to go to scheduled events over watching MLB, NBA, NHL and college football. The NFL is the only deal breaker. Although I do try to avoid Sunday family/friend events during one of the 4 golf majors.

Not me. I actually like my family. If we have get togethers they are usually on Sundays...for kid's birthdays, random family cook outs, golf with my boys, etc. I would rather spend the day with my family than watch a football game. I guess everyone has different priorities.

oh give it a few more years Tony you're still young you just haven't had all your Lions hope stomped yet, but it's only a matter of time..

When you're in your 40's you've seen enough. But as bad as it's been most watch because we enjoy football and move on from a bad game/season.

not anymore, I'm done, today probably just shaved at least a year off Tony's remaining hope meter, he'll end up right here with us eventfully.

That's too bad. Go hug your kid, call your Mom or something.
