Tigers might need to take 2 out of 3 in order to be comfortably ahead.. Indians are starting to play very well against the AL Central and I have a feeling the Sox will lay down..

I don't consider 6.5 back with 6 left to play head to head that far back.

Maybe I'm just being too cautious.

You're actually right, and the Indians have played surprisingly well. If the Tigers had a better recent history of closing it out I don't think we'd be too cautious..

I'm concerned mostly because it is a 1 o'clock game and leaving from Detroit to cleveland in the middle of the night/morning they won't have much sleep/rest before going to the park for bp etc.
Hope they aren't flat tomorrow and can get a couple of wins on the road.

And let's not forget the Indians play ridiculous at home at times.. All those goddamn walkoffs..

We could lose 2 of 3 and I will still feel real good about our chances.

The series is huge for Cleveland, but not a nail-biter for Detroit.

Cleveland needs a sweep to have a chance to catch us.

Did you fail math class?

Cleveland does not need to sweep or even take 2 of 3.

If we win 2 of 3 they will be 7.5 games down, with 20 games to play.

That's not insurmountable.

Like KC says, when were up 7 games with 6 to play I'll relax.

Tigers will win the division by 5+ games.

They are, by far, the best team in the division.

It is going to be fun. I know it is not over but at least they are up 6 1/2 not down 61/2 games.

People are calling into 97.1 with scenarios about how the Tigers are going to lose the division. People are stupid.

Cleveland has to be frustrated because they are 7-3 in their last 10 games and they didn't gain any ground on us. They'd also have to beat Verlander if they hope to have any chance of sweeping us.

I do not see the Tigers going 7 - 15 (or 7 wins out of 22) the rest of the way out. If the Tigers play 500 to close out September, they win the division.

Just keep playing good and win some games..As history shows we are not good at closing the deal...Until we clinch I will not feel good...

The Jake was a good place to go see a game when the Tigers were not as competitive. I remember in about 94-95' travelling over from my home in Erie, Pa with friends. Big excitement of the day? Calling Tram's hits. "He is gonna single to left"....boom he did it. Now isn't that piss poor compared to NOW? We old farts remember 67,68,72,84,87 and something happening in 06' also. Relish it all fellas because, in the cadence of the late Howard Cosell, it...just...might...all ....fall....into place for the Detroit Tigers this year.

they only blew it once. And it was like 3 games with 4 to go....

I think the Tigers should just aim for 90 wins.. They are only 11 wins away and only need to go 11-10 to get there.. Not unreachable at all.. A home series against the Orioles really helps as well..

I'm not worried about how many wins they get, just get the magic number down to zero. Home series would be nice but not hugely important. They're in good shape.

On the ESPN standings page it gives Detroit a 97.2% chance of winning the division. Pretty decent odds.
