Indians extend Raburn

Seems smart to me.

Aside from 1 bad year (last year and only 66 games) he's been a producer.

Career .761 OPS for a bench guy, and if you toss out 2012 that average would be close to .800

Most teams would love to have that.

He was a whipping boy on these boards but not a bad bench guy. He has been pretty good for them this year. He is second on the team in OPS and 3rd in WAR. As long as they aren't giving him a boat load of cash it was probably a pretty good signing.

Good for him. Hope he does well other than when he plays against us

I get what some of you are saying, the thing with Raburn is he can be extremely Hot for a 2/3 months and extremely cold for the same amount of time.
Whether that has to do with how he was used with the Tigers or he just hit better in warm weather, who knows?
and imo he is frightening to watch in the field, for me, either in the infield or the outfield.

with all that, I got so pissed with him, I started calling him Shinebox back at espn,

but he seems to be a real good guy, so I wish him the best except for the 18/19 games the Tigers play them.

He does good, Cleveland wins more - therefore they might top us.

I hope he bats .177.

Over under on number of "good" months he has through the rest of this contract? I'm saying six, and I'm taking the under.

I wish him well. Aside from last year, he wasn't as bad as some of you are maintaining.

Unfortunately last year counts. He was probably looked on badly because he had certain times he didn't hit, 2 months at a time. And his fielding sucked. But at .180 or whatever he batted, it was definitely time to go..

Good for ryan, but odds are that he will revert to his alter-ego shinebox sooner or later. The best the tribe can hope for is that raburn performs somewhere in-between being shinebox and super-UT mashing-mudhen overall through the next couple of seasons.

He is having exactly the type of season that he needed to have, otherwise he might have permanently returned to the minors as roster-filler @ best,

Victor and Avila and Kelly all hit about that for almost the same time frame. Why was it not "time to go" for them?

We all got frustrated when his bat got cold, or when he made fielding goofs, but I really don't get the "LOL"'s in this thread that someone extended him. He's a pretty good player to have on the bench.

Because with Victor it wasn't a whole season. Duh. Avila is a much better defensive player than Raburn. I'm not a fan of Kelly and hope he is gone 2014.

And I hate saying this but your comparisons sucked balls.

It wasn't with Raburn either. Which was why I mentioned it. He played in 66 games. DUH.

You know what I mean, whether he got 600 PA he was here and went .171. Did you really want him in 2013? Really..

No, I don't know what you meant. I can only go by what you post.

Raburn finished the season here. He was here all of 2012 (who cares if he only got 66 games). You don't see why the Tigers would not bring him back?

If VMart was hitting .171 on September 10 (last game Raburn played in 2012) and he was to become a FA then yeah I'd want him gone.

Make sense now or do you have some other nonsense about why him and Victor are the same.
