Inge to DL -Worth, Dirks, Thomas make roster

I don't understand keeping Clete Thomas. Dirks seems like a better option for the "left handed outfielder" spot. I would rather they keep another reliever instead of Clete.

I think we all knew Inge had one more life left, may as well get on with what should be a great season of baseball.

I suspect they like Clete, like having another LHB and with no options, didn't want to lose him. I would have cut him myself.

Like I said above that might just mean Raburn foes to left and DY at DH. Just because I think Leyland puts Inge ahead of Kelly, Worth etc.

I don't think it's Leyland.

I think Mr. I has a soft spot for Brandon, and maybe even considered it could be a P.R. nightmare to cut a guy who's as popular as Inge.

I don't think a single manager or coach of this team puts Brandon ahead of anyone else on the roster.

Leyland reads the papers, he see's what Inge is saying about his ability, but he also knows what his ability is, having managed him for 5 years.

Leyland loves Clete. He is a good defender, and that's likely what they're looking for in that spot. They have plenty of guys who can spot start in the OF in Raburn and Kelly. It's not a terrible idea to have a defensive replacement like Thomas when one of your regulars is Young.

Said it before & I'll say it again: Reason why the NE Pats & NYY's are success stories year after year is that their only loyalty is to the team & its fans. No way Inge should still be sitting there; not unless the Phillies really are interested in him.
