I can’t believe it until I see it, but there are rumors in more than one place that they both want to come back. Jackson wants to work on his game and money is no issue as his parents are multi millionaires. Hearing he’s a definite lean to return. He also won’t turn 19 until this Fall, he’d be in NBA camp after his sophomore season right when he turns 20.

Bridges I have a really hard time believing he’d return, but who knows.

As of now, I would out Jackson at 50-50, Bridges 80 leaving, 20 staying.

how are his parents multi-millionaires?

Bridges may in his mind still feel like he has unfinished business. His mom might disown him if he came back. Seriously, the smart thing for him is to go. He took a chance this year to come back and try to lead MSU to a special season, and it didn't quite work out, and he at best held steady on his draft position. He's costing himself a ton of money if he does it again.

JJJ I could kind of see given that he is in good financial shape. Still, he is projected to go top 6, which is higher than Bridges last season. So based on that it would be an even bigger shock than Bridges staying last year.

Bridges is declaring and will sign with an agent. best of luck to him, he's still a top 15 pick.

Good luck to him. Even though it didn't work out in the end this year for the team (although I'm pretty certain we don't raise a banner this year if he's not here), we got one more year out of him than expected and should be thankful for that.

Couldn't ask for much more from a kid than what he gave us. I wish he would have adapted to the 3 a little better, in the obituary of the season, that might be the cause of death.

Jim Comp (Rivals)is hearing JJJ is returning, not the best source, but Sean Sherer is saying the same thing, and the boards are hearing he is leaning towards staying.

I think if JJJ comes back we start Langford at the 3 and McQuaid at the 2 next year with the rest of the starters remaining the same. Honestly though, I think Tillman should start ahead of Ward.

Team will be loaded next year and the leaders will be upperclassmen as opposed to this season.

Bridges leaving is addition by subtraction.

JJJ is talented and from the few MSU games I saw was fun to watch (or would be if I was a fan), but has a lot to learn, both on and off the court.

Nick Ward entering his name into the draft for evaluation, not hiring an agent.

Ward should leave, Tillman is going to start in front of him next season regardless IMO, and if Jackson returns his minutes aren't going to grow. He may get drafted late 2nd round, if he returns to college he should think about a transfer.

Agree that if Ward and Jackson were to return, then a scoring 6th man role behind Jackson and Tillman would suit Ward very well. Problem is I doubt he would be satisfied with such a role.

If he stays in and Jackson ultimately decides to leave, then we're screwed.

I don't get why people think Tillman is ready to come in and take Ward's role/minutes. What am I missing?

I also think Langford at the 3 could be a problem - will he be able to get his shot off against 3s? Maybe he's quicker than Bridges and will be able to get more 15 footers off of shot fakes from 3 but he's doesn't seem like he's able to take it to the rim. Can he defend the 3s he'll be facing? Whether he gets moved to the 3 or stays a 2, he's the guy who needs to make the most progress next year - except for maybe Tillman if his minutes suddenly double.

Tillman would first take all of Schilling's minutes (which by the end of this year, he already had), and maybe a few of Ward's minutes, depending on what happens with Jackson. In reality they would probably split time unless Jackson leaves and Izzo can find a way to play them together. But as far as role goes, Tillman isn't the polished scorer on the block that Ward is but he isn't without ability in that area (unlike Schilling). But he may a more well-rounded players. Can do the little things well (defending ball screens, setting screens, moving the ball, etc), but can also potentially do the big things pretty well too (scoring, rebounding, blocking shots).

As for Langford, at 6-5 he's not small for the 3 spot in today's world. And plus they don't really have anyone else to put in that spot unless one of the freshmen (Henry, Brown, Bingham supposed also has some 3 skills) is ready sooner than expected, which I think is very unlikely. Your only other option would be Goins, which would be bad in a lot of ways.

I think Tillman replacing Ward's scoring, blocks and rebounds is a big ask. I can see him taking Schilling's minutes and growing into a bigger role but I think it's crazy to be glad Ward has declared or to want him to transfer, even if JJJ stays. He's 11+ points per game, second best shot blocker, good rebounder and surprisingly mobile for a big man. I like the idea of Ward and JJJ up front with Tillman subbing for 1 or both and developing.

As for Langford at the 3 - he was pretty easy to defend and disrupt his perimeter game as a 2 (at least from late December on) so I'm not so sure he'd be fine at the 3. I'd rather have a guy that can get to the rim when he's not getting his shot off. but as you say, we may not have any other choice. Who is going to be the backup 2? one of the freshman?

Finally, I can't tell you how much I wish Goins was a senior this year.

We are going to look back at this season in a few years and be livid that we pissed a golden opportunity to win a title away
