Jackson and Bridges decisions.

In my opinion, Winston was the most critical piece and is even more so now, obviously. Jackson undoubtedly would be gone after next year anyway and with the loss of Bridges and possibly Ward, I'm not sure they'd be much better next year if at all, particularly if Goins continues to get more minutes than JJJ. We can probably write off next year as a rebuilding year - maybe finish top 3 in the B1G, somehow make the Sweet 16 maybe - anything more would be gravy. If Ward comes back and Izzo gets his head out of his ass about his minutes, then there's more upside but I think that's a pipe dream. I know he didn't sign with an agent but if he gets drafted anywhere, I'd be shocked if he doesn't go. Either way, hopefully Izzo can develop a pretty deep '18 incoming class for a year then make a run with Winston as a senior.

Why wait a few years? I'm already there.

Of course. But when we go through a couple mediocre years where we have no chance to win a title (like 2017) it is going to sting even worse. The tigers losing in the ALCS in 2013 hurts way more now than it did 4 years ago.

we were a 2 seed that ran into a buzz saw in 2017. We obviously fell way short but I think they had a decent chance.

If Ward were to return, and I have no idea is he's really just testing the waters or is hell bent on staying in the draft at this point, he and Tillman could still be a formidable front-line combo. Problem is I don't think Izzo is going to want to play them together, unless he thinks Tillman can go out and guard the 4. And that all means a steady diet of Goins playing the 4 as I don't think Bingham is going to be ready for major minutes unless he puts on some weight.

A backcourt of Winston, Langford, and McQuaid should be good and experienced, with hopefully Loyer able to contribute good minutes too.

You?re thinking of 2016. In 2017 we were like a 9 seed and got thumped by Kansas is the 2nd round.

I think they'd go with Ward at the 5 and Tillman at the 4, hopefully that happens and he returns. I've heard different rumors, one is that he'll only stay in the draft if he gets a first round guarantee but others think he's gone regardless. Playing in Europe isn't a guarantee, at least not one of the top leagues. they have limits on how many US players they can have and those aren't easy jobs to get.

Ward will return. Good decision by him. Solid team next year. 21-24 wins......but not enough talent to go too deep in the tourney without getting a draw like Michigan did last year.

Hopefully Ward makes the most of this decision and he and Izzo can start to meet eye-to-eye on some things. He that can happen this is potentially a pretty good team if a couple people step up and some depth develops, all of which seems more than possible.

It is there for him to become the go-to guy if he does the other things Izzo wants to stay on the floor (or Izzo can find a way to look past some things) because I don't think Langford has it in him and you probably don't want Winston to have to shoulder that burden.

It seems like Izzo let other players like Bridges and Winston play through their defensive mistakes but showed Ward the tough love. He can really be a dominant college player, a lot of his per minute stats were off the charts. He needs to be able to guard a little bit in space, not be a liability out there, and he needs to make teams pay for double teams, not just dribble out and reset the offense.

Jaren Jackson played his first Summer league game tonight. 29 points in 23 minutes on 8-13 from 3. Whoa.
