Jahvid Best

yup pissing away value in the 4th means nothing....youd be an awesome gm.

Gaining access to the late 1st from Round 2 meant nothing I guess. Usually you have to give up future picks for that. Mayhew>mhughes.

Hughes=Millen as GM

not when you waste the late 1st rd pick on someone you scouted off of youtube that is coming of a serious concussion and is 160 lbs. mayhew blows....

Your assessments blow. Best was a great talent. But now we move on Bush.

I'm glad you will never be a GM or anything close.

Your arm chair hindsight is beyond dumb. You probably were happy about the Best pick at the time.

its not hindsight you idiot.....I said it since day 1. any1 with any football knowledge knows:

you don't take 160 lb scat backs in rd 1
you don't take RBs coming off serious concussions in rd 1
you don't take rbs when your oline averaged 0 yards up the middle and to the right
you don't scout off of youtube
You don't use someone who is a KR and at MOST a 3rd down back that has a history of concussions as a full time RB.

way to go mayhew!....you almost killed someone cause youre an idiot...

The fact is a late 1st rounder from 2010 is no longer contributing to the team. You can call it unlucky/unfortunate/etc., but in the end it looks like a "bad pick". The Lions can't hope to be successful if picks like that disappear. I wouldn't totally blame Mayhew since this was mostly unforeseen, but it is what it is.

It's certainly not the definitive guide to draft pick trading, but according to this

30 and 128 picks = 664
34, 100, and 214 picks = 665.8

So the trade was about as even as you can get

Buy, only injuries and/or poor line play will get in his way. 25 is pretty low if he plays a full season. The talent at the playmaker positions is obvious and staff has the skill to exploit their advantages.

Buy or Sell. Avril has 10+ sacks.

This was a quote from Hughes before 2011 season. Note he is talking about the talent around stafford. Titus, best, Calvin, Nate and pettigrew. Caught you bitch. Mr. Hindsight is all you are

Looks like Hughes liked the lions talent going into 2011. You are a joke hughes

Never minded keeping Mayhew though was a bit surprised they kept the scouts. At that point I realize it was all Millens fault.

Mitch quote about mayhew

Exactly. Who cares about good trade vs bad trade vs good draft pick vs bad draft pick, he's not doing jack for us now..The Mayhew blame part, imo, comes from the fact he had a concussion right before we drafted him. So that takes the luck/good pick out of the equation since its the same reason he's not here anymore.

A concussion isn't like some other injuries, once you get one the likely hood you get a second increases dramatically.

damn that guy is a fucking genius whoever wrote that. could clearly forsee injuries and poor line play ruining yet another draft pick.

I definitely didn't forsee Stafford regressing into a Brandon weeden type player though....

Ps....that was a buy or sell thread on Stafford throwing more than 25 td passing you fucking moron...wtf does that have to do with best??? LKP yet again using facts incorrectly to stress one of his moronic points.

edit...corrected genius so monster doesn't have to go 3rd grade school teacher on me.

It had to do with Best because you said "The talent at the playmaker positions is obvious." Unless you're only talking about Stafford and Calvin, Best would be included in that group of playmakers.

Do you need me to pull up the 1000s of posts where I said it was a bad pick? anyone that watches college football knows he had talent. Schwartz spooges all over himself watching youtube because he had talent....doesn't mean it was a good pick.

I am sure you have a million hindsight posts. But I just proved as far as August 2011 you loved the best pick and our plethora of weapons. You have been outed as hindsight king. Wear your crown

You didn't prove that Hughes loved the Best pick...you just brought up a quote where he said that "the talent at the playmaker positions is obvious." Best was talented, but that doesn't mean that Hughes loved the pick, which since it didn't work out, I don't blame him.

Gawd don't go digging up my predictions in the game threads LKP. I'll be totally discredited. I'll never be able to say a bad thing about Mayhew, Schwartz, any of the players...I always pick them to win every game!

He said he was a weapon. He liked Titus too. He is captain hindsight

Hey LKP lay off hughes he just sticks to the facts and makes spot on predictions every season about our record and every player. Guy should be GM of the Lions of Mayhew FOR SURE. O and he knows for a FACT the only reason Mayhew picked Best was SOLELY on his youtube highlights... Sorry but the guy may have worked under Millen, but however close he may be, Millen he is not.
