Jamey Carroll

I should say I'm not against this. I rather have Carroll than a FT Santiago. But i sure hope we get a 3B.

found at TigsTown.
Midseason Tigers minor league rankings had Perez in the mid 30's.
Perez has slid over to second base in deference to the slick fielding Dixon Machado this season, but that is no slight against his glove. Perez is an easy plus defender with good actions, soft hands, and a plus to plus-plus arm. He has natural strength and has an ability to drive balls, giving him some projection with the bat as well.
some Minor league followers had him move up in their personal rankings at the end of the year.
The strength in Perez

i have to be completely honest and admit I was wrong. I never really knew what Carroll Ba was. I always pegged him as a .260-.270 guy. After looking at his stats over the last 5 years I see I was wrong. Carroll probably would be the best option. Hopefully he wont get to Detroit and flop into a career worst year or something. You guys were right, he'd obviously be a better option than Santiago all things considered. It still irks me that he's 38 but you gotta do what you gotta do.

according to mlbtr, carroll is close to a multi-year deal with the fucking TWINS. fuck.

I'm guessing the Tigers are offering one year. Just a guess, though. Can't blame Carroll for looking for 2+.

dunno why wed only offer one year, its not like we have a 2nd baseman waiting in the wings or that the market for the position next year will be strong.

Better market next year than this year. Tentatively, Maicer Izturis, Howie Kendrick and Brandon Phillips are free agents next year. Those are the guys without any options right now.

He is 38, but he looks and plays like he's 5/6 years younger, my take on him.
But, maybe DD didn't want to give him 2 years at that age, which is understandable. You just don't know if his age would catch up to him in the second year.
In the mean time we look for and wait for a Gehringer/Whitaker/McAuliffe/Polanco clone.
