Joe and Matt

Still had plenty of opportunities and still only scored 2 FGs.

Bad spot on Ebron on 3rd down cost us 4 points. This would lead to different momentum and play calls. Bogus OPI on Ebron. Another 3 or 7. Sims recovery bad spot. Another 3 or 7. Ross return another 7. Lions score 19 to 25 more points then with the proper calls. They won the game.

Bell and Riddick both have ran 3rd and short too. It was a good play call. A call that works typically.

You're right that the run with Collins has been good for us. It's exactly why he needs to mix it up sometimes. I'm sure the cardinals knew it was coming. And being that they are very stout against the run it isn't the wisest of ideas to be predictable.

right call on 3rd and 1. It's typically a run up the middle. Bell is more expected. Collins was having success. It was the right call.

You know what is creative. The Riddick run on 3rd down.

And having Warford would help.

The riddick run was not creative at all. It doesn't matter how you line up if you run a boring obvious call on what you're gonna do. All it did was make it more time needed for a short run.

Abandon the run completely, Lions win

Against the cardinals
We average 5.2 yards per run
We average 4.8 per drop back

Solution become one dimensional and only pass? We got less yards that was than we did running the ball

He does mix it up. The "creative" play is the Riddick run. And there was the 4th and 2 pass play too. Run up the middle, creative run and pass just weren't executed. It's not the play call. Every single way failed.

I'm pretty sure they tried that a few years back when the best running back was like Kevin Smith. Didn't work too well, if I recall correctly. Seems like defenses always dropped everyone back in coverage because they knew K. Smith would fall down on his own before getting out of the backfield.

We have not shown the ability to score even in the redzone. So even if Ebron gets the spot chances are we still settle for a field goal. Funny hao Lions score 6 points, 3 of which is us getting the ball at like the Cards 19 yardline but magically if we have one play changed in a couple series we score a td every time.

This offense has been one of the worst at scoring in the league. what is the point of having the leagues best wr and one of the highest paid if we score 6 points. Why have one of the highest paid qb's if we score 6 points. Why spend the #10 pick on a te when we score 6 points.

If you want to bitch about the line, then that is where we need to spend the picks. Everyone was complaining about the play calling under Scotty, but looks like he was able to mask some glaring holes we had

Exactly, becoming a one dimensional offense mightve been the key to winning the game. Showing them we could run against them is what they were expecting, and they knew that running the ball would not win the game for the Lions. And it didnt. Glad the stat sheet looks nice though for the running game.

I say we go backwards. Wishbone offense here we come. Especially if we can trade Matt for a Mobile QB.

Johnny Football as QB.
Joique Bell as full back
Bush and Riddick as tail backs

WEAPONS!!!!

Horse shit idea. I'd definitely jump ship on this team

Explain to me how that is creative? Were they not expecting a run up the middle on that play?

Matt just doesn't go deep anymore..not even mid anymore. Everything's five yards down the field.

Ohhhhhh so what you're saying is a should spread look on 4th and inches should make the defense worry about the pass...yeah, ok...I'm sure that works alllll the time.

It should make them think pass. It does work, just not on that play. Poor execution, not the play call. And it should have been a first down anyway on the Sims fumble recovery. Bad spot.

No it shouldn't ever make them think pass. We had like 5 inches to go. That's qb sneak territory. Never ever ever should it make them think pass.

With Calvin and Tate. Yes it makes them think pass. We just didn't execute.

We didn't execute because our O-line got dominated all game by the Cardinal's D-line. When that's consistently happening, Lombardi needs to take that into account.

Day later I still can't wrap my head around how bad this offense is..I thought matt looked confused all day yesterday by the Cardinals defensive alignments didn't know what to do so just kept brute forcing it to calvin..didn't work out so well.. All the short crap to was just perplexing, cards were all over the dink and dunk all day yet they kept doing it..thinking Lombard's scheme must just blow or something whatever that scheme is, or maybe defenses have adjusted finally to that saints style offense he trying to run,Saints aren't exzactly lighting it up anymore either...

I don't know what it's going to take but something just isn't right, not right at all Lombardi...I'm actually missing LINEHAN FFS!

Lions must find away to get thier collective heads out of thier offense asses else this season is going to end up just like so many before it...in unmitigated disaster disappoitment
