Joel Zumaya?

Joel Zumaya's MRI revealed a torn UCL.
RP Joel Zumaya lasted 13 pitches. MRI confirms torn UCL, heading to Dr. Andrews for consultation, likely Tommy John surgery.

with that, Zoom's career is probably over.

What a shame. I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be to be in his shoes.

If he had only been able to stay healthy the past few years with Tigers.
he has kept trying to come back after every injury.
Frustrating, and sad for him at what could have been to add to that incredible 2006 season. I remember he led the league at least a couple of times for most pitches over 100mph.

Zumaya briefly burned brightly like a shooting star in the sky, or a Replicant in the sci-fi movie "Blade Runner" for a little more than a season, before injuries stole his profession baseball career away, he is becoming the RP version of Mark Fidrych, in MLB and Tigers history.

I am sure that due to his still relatively young age, that he will yet again try to return to pitching in the pros, but he better start thinking about preparing for another career off the pitching mound, perhaps as pitching coach in the minors or semi-pro if he hasn't begun to already. Maybe he can still pitch in Japan where he can try to figure out how to become a Tanana-like junkballer.

13 pitches into batting practice? Cool, the over under was 14 pitches and I took the under.

What a shame, Joel was a character and caught lightning in a bottle for a couple seasons. His arm just didn't hold up. He is finished now, no team will waste their time on him again.

Who's surprised? I'm not. Well, maybe a little after 13 pitches...pathetic.

Sad that the guy's hurt, but frankly am pleased that we won't have to be facing him.

Read a post from a Twins fan that Zumaya was apparently fooling around by throwing baseballs deep into the upper decks of their ST facility in Ft. Meyers, just prior to tearing his UCL while participating in the Twinks' pitchers' practice, if true, I am very glad for his sake, that he didn't rip up his arm while yet again fucking around, providing more funny foolish fodder for baseball fans and ink-stained wretches alike to dwell upon and write even more derogatory articles and blog posts about jinxed Joel.

Looked around couple of twins blogs, but couldn't find it.
Do you have a link to it Doug?

Did see this pic in a link.

I feel bad for him. He's got a world of raw talent, but his arm just can't hold together. It's a shame.

Same here King...

onlooker says that there was an audible pop when Scott Sizemore hurt knee during fielding drill.

Ex-Tiger Scott Sizemore suffers apparent knee injury in Athletics camp.

A second ex-Tiger was lost for the season today: Oakland's Scott Sizemore has torn ACL.

Scott Sizemore suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the entire 2012 season.
Brutal news for Sizemore, who played well after being acquired from the Tigers last season and was set to serve as the A's starting third baseman in 2012. The 27-year-old will be re-evaluated in two weeks before a date is set for surgery.

Its somewhere within an ESPN "conversations" thread that I was reading this morning, and lately my "pirated" and decrypted WiFi internet connection sucks, it freezes and unfreezes and constantly gives me script errors on webpages, so it is hard for me to locate it within a few hundred other posts.

Thankfully it looks like I am finally going to be able to afford cable TV plus internet again next month, so I can watch the Tigers play IRT this coming season..Yay!!. I also bought one of those ROKU boxes online in advance anticipation of getting the internet back for my ancient tube TV as well.
