Jones: Deion could stop Megatron

Deion is only 6'1 Tron is 6'5 he could keep up but he doesn't have the size or leaping ability to defend Calvin.

I think if he says Deion would do a good job on Calvin, I'd agree. But to imply he'd shut him down is excessive.

He could be right, we'll never know....but then again, this is coming from the guy who thought it was a good idea to trade away a 1st, 3rd, and 6th for Roy Williams.

Regardless of the outcome of that matchup.....and it would be AWESOME to watch.....what is Jones' deal with CJ?

Move on, old man. Put more time into figuring out why your team sits at .500 the last 16 years and your "superstar" QB is 1-3 in playoff games and 0-3 in games where the playoffs are on the line.

Megatron just clowned your WR, your D and your entire team......shut the fuck up!!

This is all.....

That's why he's talking about it because his defense got fk on national TV.

Deion was great and I don't believe any DB can shutdown a great WR. Contain a little bit, sure, but not shut down.

Keep up? Deion was one of the fastest players in NFL history. Way faster than the goons that chased CJ down in the Cowboys game. Revis got the best of CJ in their matchup. There is no reason to think DS wouldnt do the same. Deion shut down alot of great receivers in his time.

Just cause your fast doesn't mean you can cover. Deion is soft, no way he could completely shut down Calvin,. If its 1v1 and the ball is going to be thrown at some point no matter what my money is on Calvin.

Deion was fast and could cover. Guy was rarely out of position

Would love to see this matchup!!!

Primetime in his prime and CJ right now (completely healthy, of course).

I guess it would depends on what you consider winning. If it's 1 on 1 and CJ gets to run 10 routes.....and every route started on the 20 (with 80 yds to go).....I'd put his numbers at 5 catches for 150 yds. Now, part of that is because if CJ got the ball in his hands with even a little bit of space.....I don't see that pussy Sanders being able to tackle him. At all. But Deion would win his share of battles, especially in close spaces where quickness is more valuable. That guy was amazingly quick and lightning fast.

CJ wins any jump ball battles.

That question is so general though. In the context of a game situation with safety help over the top, I can see CJ really having to work to get his catches.

It is a very real possibility that we could face the Cowboys again this year which would be very interesting. I think Jerry is just trying to distract from the fact that his defense is horrible and had a bad plan on how to cover Calvin. He was singled up almost all game. No other team has tried that in years for reasons that we saw during the game. It's clear the Tampa 2 in Dallas is not working.

To me, that has been the biggest part of that game that NOBODY has talked about. WTF was Dallas doing?? Single covering CJ??? Were they trying to prove a point? They did, they proved you can't do that.

Undoubtedly the single worst coordinator decision of any game this year. Would have loved to been on the D team meetings leading up to the game.

Monte Kiffin - "uhhhh.....how do we wanna cover Megatron?"

Jerry Jones - "Man to man"

(laughter throughout the room) "no, really"

Jerry Jones - "he isn't that good, Brandon Carr can do the job.....i'm more worried about Reggie Bush."

Monte Kiffin - "Sounds like a good idea.....from time to time we'll use Barry Church"

Jason Garrett - "I used to be the backup quarterback here".

Jerry Jones - "That way, we'll make ourselves look brilliant for how much we spent in FA on our secondary."

Monte Kiffin - "Would you just single cover Dez if you had to play him, Jerry"?

Jerry Jones - "Golly no, I'd triple him. He's too good for man to man. Calvin isn't as good as Dez".

Jason Garrett - (humming the theme to SpongeBob Squarepants while eating peanut butter of Jerry Jones nipples)

Monte Kiffin - "Lane told me it was a good idea, so it'll definitely work"!!!

After the first 200 yards or so.......you think MAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaYBE they would have gone a different route.

Oh well, I'll take it.

Call it whatever they want but that wasn't the tampa 2. Safeties were non existant for them the entire game. Cj runs across the middle all game like that he shouldve got his head knocked off....whatever defense that was...it was horrible.

Nice.

Interesting question but I would say that Deion never faced anyone like Calvin. Mostly because no one like calvin exists now or existed in the era. Calvin can beat you with pure athleticism and has developed into a complete route runner. Few players come into the league with his abilities and even less put in the time to become great players. Calvin works on his routes and how to properly use every facet of his athletic ability. He is big, fast and strong and then puts in the work like Rice to be the best. If Stafford is slinging the ball like he did sunday then Deion has very little chance at stopping him 1 v1.

did he face randy 1 v1 ever? hes the only size/speed combo that I can think of that would come close to the talent of CJ. Dez is a great WR and I cant think of anything he cant do....im not sure how if youre the DAL coaches and you watch a bunch of film seeing CIN WRs torching our dbs how you don't come up with a better gameplan to challenge our secondary....poor coaching and poor qb play I suppose. statistically he has one of the best first 50 games the league has ever seen if I remember correctly.

He does the very best 50 ever. That being said Calvin probably would have had better numbers without the trash teams he was on aka Kitna, culpooper, Dan O and etc....But yea I figured he would put up better numbers against us. Deion probably played against Moss but he never ran routes like Calvin. Calvin right now is just doing some incredible things not just with physical abilities but with knowledge of the game. He is playing smart and running great routes.
