Justice for a Vist

dude....this isnt rocket science. 2011 was an anomoly and it wasnt even a solid anomoly. It was a lucky as hell, pull out wins out of our ass, thank you for sucking tony romo, thank you for not throwing the flag on that webb facemask, anomoly.

2012 the writing was on the wall early. After 4 games i correctly predicted a 4 win season. Ill find the thread if you need me to.

2013 Youd be wise not to drink too much kool aid until you see how the O and D lines come together. Mayhew did a good job filling other holes but if the dline cant protect the 2nd tier lb corps we have then our defense is not going to hold up very well. Similarly if the new look o line cant protect when we throw the ball 650 times a year then we could easily be looking at more struggles on the offensive side of the ball as well.

For the optimistic view reggie should make more big plays for us in the offense than Lecrap has. Defensively Ansah could end up being a monster which we will need him to be cause i dont see much production comming from the other end position.

The "excuse" for not being better this year is very clear if every other team in our own division end up beign better than us again. We need to start winning divisional games if we even want to sniff .500 this year.

you can't claim one to be an anomaly without claiming another to be..in 2012 we lost 3 straight games with leads in the last two minutes..wasn't that also some kind of nfl record? i think it was GB houston and indy...did we have some lucky wins in 2011? yes..but we also showed that we were a good team..had the 4th best offense i think that year..behind gb, new england, new orleans..matt stafford had an awesome season..and the defense was one of the best at getting turnovers..it wasn't like we were just squeaking out wins while having no talent..statistically we were there..

That's the point I made several times. You can't blame those last minute losses on injuries because the team was well enough to be ahead for 58 freakin' minutes.

And if I'm not mistaken I think it was 4 losses in last two minutes.

Except Delmas went out in the 4th against Indy and Houston allowing comebacks. And the Pack got a block in the back non call springing Finley for 40 yards to set up the Cobb TD. So yes you can blame injuries all day. Eventually Florence, Coleman, Wendling and Silva would suck. But the pass rush let us down too and they've changedd the DES because of it.

But why didn't they make those bad plays in the first 58 minutes? You're confused about one thing, in 2012 at the end of games - the other team made plays and we didn't - fact. Haven't you even looked to see if the team we played was all healthy? Or were the Lions the only team hurt..

And the Packs got a block, why'd we let them? Talent maybe..? Or did our OL stub their tubs? Or maybe the wind went against us?

Oh I know, we had it worse

Face it, we were a 4 win team in 2012 and deserved it.

We didn't make those bad plays when Delmas was in the game. And Delmas wasn't even 100% healthy playing. When he wasn't in the game we did in the 4th (Wendling, Silva, Florence beat by Brazill). So injuries did play a factor. Lions did have it much worse. Show me a team missing WR2-4 and TE at the same time for 4-6 games. Show me a team forced to play 4th and 5th string safeties and 5th and 6th string CBs due to massive injuries at the same position, show me a team without an explosive RB due to injury. Show me a team San Fran played last year missing CB1, CB2 and best two safeties and playing Kevin Smith at RB.

An illegal block in the back. Not a good block by the Packers. Plus a lucky pick 6. -10 TDS allowed to TDS forced offensively and -16 turnover differential won't happen to this Lions team again.

Lions outplayed alot of oppponents last year and were much better than 4-12. They didn't deserve 4-12 at all based on the talent of the 1st and 2nd string. Anyone who watched the game with a brain can see that.

at Pack, at Zona, Atl, Chicago are a completely different story if Best, Broyles, Burleson, Young and Pettigrew play. Still made 3 of them good games with backup weapons

Texans and Colts and Pack home endings are completely diffrent if Delmas plays the full game. Not to mention the Forsett TD utter bull shit. Probably the Titans game too with the 2 long TDs wiht poor backup backup safety play. Not to mention the Ben Graham injury allowing trick play.

at Chicago we outplayed them moving the ball in the second half but shot ourselves in the foot in the redzone with the Bears basically doing nothing to earn it.

Vikings game special teams killed us. Won't happen again. So long Percy. Defensively we played a great game and had two turnovers deep in Viking territory again plus the Pettigrew drop. Again the Vikings did nothing to earn that.

The 2012 Lions were not a 4-12 team. The 2013 team is very talented again and have more depth at CB, RB and Safety thankfully.

Woulda Coulda Shoulda.

We lost those games last year because we lost.

We won 10 games the year before because we won.

Flukes? Injuries? Luck? Bad Luck? All part of football and none of it is an accurate representation of what the team will or can do this year.

We have as much talent as any team in the league and more talent than most teams. Have they always lived up to it? Not even close. But that doesn't mean they won't exceed their own talent level this year and win it all.

Hope blooms eternal in Detroit, and skeptics are everywhere.

Our depth sucks. We might have key players who are as good as the rest of the league but that's just a few players. As a team, in reality, we were probably a 6 win team. Nothing more.
