Kyle O'Brien hired as Director of Player Personnel

I put together a PFF overall grade for 2015 of the players the Lions, Pats, and Jags have drafted the past two season for anyone who likes PFF stats.

Note: The unranked players usually didn't meet the minimum snaps required (not sure what PFF's minimum is) to be ranked. N/A because either that player never seen the field, doesn't play a graded position, or isn't in the league at the moment.

PFF's Scale

Actually I am. Clearly Bortles has a cannon for an arm, but I really think Teddy is something special. His composure under pressure is off the charts for a second year guy.

However, it really doesn't matter to me which guy edges the other out. My point is when every scout out there is saying "This is the best guy in the draft", and the Kiper starts in with his "I have heard scouts don't like him as much as people say" crap... you have to wonder why the guy fell?

I think way too often people in the NFL ignore their own hard work in evaluating a player and panic the minute Kiper opens his trap.

One of those two guys will end up the "better" 1st rounder from that draft, cause Johnny Backup sure won't. But going into that draft, Bridgewater was far and away more polished than anyone, and really should have been #1 overall. And I have no explanation for his freefall other than people listening to the talking heads.

I highly doubt scouts are throwing out their own hard work in lieu of Kiper/Mcshay assessments. It seems much more likely that they're reporting on what scouts are saying, rather than directly influencing scouting reports that much.

I CAN see GM's listening to the talking heads, though. They're much more likely to gauge player popularity and interest for sales purposes.

I guarantee that was how Big Mike Williams was drafted.

Fuck that was a bad pick. I remember wanting Derrick Johnson.

That was my, holy shit.....Millen has no clue what he's doing moment.

I was a fan of his until that instant. Then, the switch flipped.

It will not matter ... lions schedule has playoffs written all over it..if they dont Quinn fires Caldwell and gets his own guy... hope they work well togther because not sure I see much from jags but we will just have to see.
