I think it's ideal as well because it's not like he has a super team where the chances of them repeating are great (like Phil Jackson has)...he won't be left with any "I wonder if I coulda got another one."...

And not the first involving LaRussa, which his DUI's, and being the guy most involved with McGwire and Canseco.

Was LaRussa asked to step down? If so, I missed that. But I seriously doubt that. If you take a fairly mediocre team all the way....It's all on the manager. You don't get asked to step down. You are asked how much more $ do you want.

You're assuming that it would be the GM who asked him, I would think it might have been the owner.
