La russa retires

I wonder if the Pujols free agency had something to do with it. Maybe Pujols said if La Russa stays I'm gone, or Maybe La Russa knows that Pujols is leaving.

It seems kind of strange to retire out of the blue like this
 
He's like 67, not like a mid 50's guys retiring. He's also had health issues. This doesn't surprise me one bit. I don't think there HAS to be an alternative to him just saying its time.
 
Over the last 14 years, while with STL, La Russa has lived alone in STL during the year, while his wife and family has stayed in Alamo, CA. This has taken a toll over the years.
