La'el Collins

Are un-drafted rookies on a salary schedule? Or can they get as much as someone is willing to offer him?

The sudden interest by most teams started yesterday when it was learned the child was not his. That is not being "clear" of all charges, but it really destroys any motive theories the police may have at this point.

It was always possible the DA would spin the story that he didn't want to pay child support, and had his ex killed while he was away with an alibi. At the point the kid wasn't his, that theory was shot out the window. No jury would buy it now.

Teams know there is a very good chance he's going to be cleared of the investigation soon, and were getting an early jump on the process.

except he didn't really know the kid wasn't his until the maury show. so technically, you cant throw those alibis out because he could have thought the kid was his.

Surprised that Collins chose a team that is so solid at both tackle positions.

The mind of a kid who may or may nor be a killer works a lot differently than the minds of a corporate lawyer.

Most killers will try to provide an alibi. It may or may not hold up, but "I was in Chicago" is a good alibi, unless they can tie you to the killer, and show motive. Bear in mind, there is no physical evidence in this case, so in order to get a conviction, you have to have a story a jury will believe.

The corporate lawyer says "Don't sign this guy unless he's cleared. Oh, the baby isn't his? they just lost any motive. Even if the kid is guilty, he's not going to be charged."

Totally different mindset.

Plenty of motive. You're about to be paid millions. ...chick realizes this and surprises you with "congratz, your a new daddy....pay me fucker." I dont think its totally or if the realm of possibility that someone could kill someone else for that.....im sure people have killed for less.

You are 100% correct too, but the DA isn't going to be willing to present that to a jury. The jury is almost ALWAYS swayed more by physical evidence than a motive plucked out of the air.

The minute the defense says "And did the DNA test show the child was not his?"... that DA is going to crawl under the table, and cry.

Well in his press conference he said mark my words this will be the best line in NFL history.
