Jason Cole reports ex Redskin Safety LaRon Landry has visits set up with Jets . Lions and Bears

LaRon Landry - DB - Redskins

Yahoo's Jason Cole reports free agent SS LaRon Landry will soon begin making visits, and is drawing interest from the Jets, Eagles, Lions and Bears.
The Philadelphia media has already shot down speculation that the Eagles are interested, but this is the second time in three days Cole has linked Landry to New York, Detroit and Chicago. Landry is one of the league's premier safeties when healthy, but has rarely been so the past two seasons. However, with this year's crop of free agent safeties exceptionally thin, Landry could be in line for more guaranteed money than is reasonable.

Landry, hawthorn and a cb or t at 23 would be a good offseason for this team. Trading avril would be icing....maybe to ne? market for avril might pick up after williams signs. Redo cj and maybe land a tackle or cb in fa.

If he's visiting the bears then he'll probably end up there, well, that's what my gut is telling me anyway =/

No offer from the Jets and the Jets already saying their bringing Atogwe in for a visit.....Landry will be here Monday!

I believe Landry stated he was going to make every single scheduled visit before he signed.

Personally, I don't like it. Landry can't stay healthy. How valuable is 8 games a year really? We would be better off drafting a safety and developing them ourselves. Delmas has had injury issues himself, the last thing we need is to be playing backup safeties in an already middling secondary.

Signing Landry doesn't stop them from drafting a safety. Mayhew drafts BPA. If that's a safety, then he'll take the safety. If not, he won't take one. You want him to start targeting positions rather than taking BPA? That's how losing teams draft

Just the last two seasons. I'm not sure that's a pattern yet. Its football, guys get hurt.

From what I read Landry has been told by doctors to get surgery to have bone spur removed from around his Achilles last year after he got hurt again. For some odd reason he wouldn't have the surgery done. I'm kinda iffy on him now. Though he says he's 100%.

The problem of drafting BPA and it being a safety is there are only 2 good safeties in the draft. Youre better off in the FA market this year. Barron to fall to us would be a great fit...but its a severe long shot.

Two good safeties? How do you know? Maybe the scouts will find a gem late. BPA applies to all picks, not just round 1.

Landry will sign on a one year deal anyways. Him and Delmas will be FAs next year. If they draft a safety, they can let him sit and learn while Landry and Delmas start, then decide what to do in the offseason. Keeps all their options open.
