No offer from the Jets and the Jets already saying their bringing Atogwe in for a visit.....Landry will be here Monday!
I believe Landry stated he was going to make every single scheduled visit before he signed.

Anyone can change their mind for the right price. Can't imagine the Lions would've matched that money anyways

just saying , very rarely do these guys make a bunch of visits...usually they find someone willing to overpay in either the 1st or 2nd visit.

their agents know the lay of the land.

True. That's why guys like Landry and Winston schedule visits with Detroit after a few others. Wonder if the agents just schedule Detroit visits for leverage at this point, since Detroit doesn't have much $$$

Lions didnt have $4 Mill to give him

Says who?

the Lions announced they had $13 Mill...then signed Hill & Backus...
which would appear to take up at least $6 Mill.
Ready to sign Tulloch for at least $3-4 cap hit for 2012.
Still have half dozen roster spots to fill.....
don't see $4 Mill available unless someone is getting cut or Avril signing long term, which I'm beginning to wonder if he will. Then you have $4 Mill in rookie signings

Rooks are accounted for and I wasn't counting Tulloch since he's a FA.

how are rookies accounted for?

Since the cap counts against the top 53, Mitch is saying that the rookie deals will replace deals we have with players now, bumping them out of the top 53 at an equal amount. Therefore the rookies are accounted for, in actuality the rookie deals may decrease cap space but often by very little.

When a player is drafted he automatically counts against the cap for the rookie minimum until he signs an actual contract. This normally wouldn't matter anyway because it is highly unlikely that a rookie minimum contract would make it into the top 51.

From the beginning of free agency until final cuts are made, only the players with the top 51 highest cap values count against the cap.

our top 3 picks last yr count over $4 Mill against the cap this yr. They will have some impact on the cap

he's not talking about last years draft class..lol

the incoming class has no effect on the cap until final cuts are made....and if one of them happen to be in the top 51 salaries...which picking at #23 would probably be that player only.

Thanks for explaining that better. I thought it was 53 (just recently changed from 51 due to adding to the dress roster or something) but I guess it's 51.

Hogue, A Berry & R Donahue make $500 or less....I guarantee at least 2 drafts picks will make more
