Lawrence Jackson Article

dude, mayhew renigged on a prove it deal. it pissed the entire locker room off. Other people like delmas brought it up years and years later it sat so bad with the locker room.

No he didn't. He franchised Avril and offered 10 per to Avril (which he got much less on the open market).

The Lions have never low balled anyone. See Golden Tate.

ummm....mayhew low balled avril for a year saying prove it. avril had his best year. avril didn't get the contract he wanted. youre a moron so youll try to argue it but everyone on THIS planet knows that avril was pissed along with most of the locker room. So much so that delmas brought it up during his contract talks years later. Come join us whenever you want to.....were on earth.

He was a restrictred free agent and we couldn't negotiate for most of 2011 offseason due to CBA issues. Then he offered him 10 per the next year (saying that Avril did prove it). He never lowballed Avril. restrictred free agents get tendered usually. You are clueless if you think Mayhew lowballed Avril. Avril never got 10 per o nthe market. Avril made the bad decision.

Plus we needed the cap space to get Tulloch, Durant and Eric Wright. We had to restructure people to do that (Calvin, Stafford) due to the old CBA. You are so clueless hughes and it makes me so angry.

Delmas didn't get crap on the open market due to injury. There is a reason he got 2 year backloaded deal. Delmas came back to Detroit even after he was "lowballed and insulted"

Jackson sucked. He deserved nothing in 2013.

Those are your best examples and they are terrible examples. One was injured, one sucked and one was never lowballed.

And Delmas got 2.2 million last year from Miami. He didn't deserve the second year of the backloaded contract so we cut him. Mayhew was right. If Mayhew didn't cut him he would have had a 6.5 million cap hit. Clearly Delmas wasn't worth that which is why Miami gave him only 2.2 million.

Mayhew was right on Delmas and tried to over pay Avril. Jackson sucks. And Jackson had a problem with Seattles FO and coaches. He's an asshat.

I do remember Avril got an offer from the Lions that was basically about the same money for two years as the three year deal he got in Seattle, effectively making it about 66% of what the Lions offered.

Can't call that a low-ball deal if he got less money after turning Detroit down.

Delmas has complained repeatedly about being low-balled, but no one at all came close to the money he actually got in Detroit, so Delmas was just over-valuing himself, much like Lo-Jack was doing when he turned Detroit down and then ended up out of the league.

You could argue that Suh was "low-balled" in comparison to the deal Miami is giving him, but considering his deal is insane for a non-qb... I can't see where the deal Detroit offered was a bad one by any means.

It's been my experience the Lions have had to overpay guys to get them to Detroit, going all the way back to Az-Hakir Hakim and Bill "The Alligator" Schroeder. When you have a strong losing culture, you have to break the bank to get players.

The only guys I have seen complain about being given an insulting offer are guys who thought they should be paid like elite players, who were not elite players, who didn't get the big offers from anyone else either.
