I'm becoming increasingly more convinced that the football gods are just making us wait for Barry Jr
Then not only will the football gods make us wait, the "stars" will also have to be in perfect alignment as well, b/c IF Junior demonstrates that he may be nearly as great, if not better than his dad was, the Lions would absolutely have to be the very first or
maybe second/third in line in that year's draft, in order to grab him, even w/o knowing who may be also available that would be the BPA for any other team or teams that would or might be picking ahead of them.
So that would mean that either the Lions were awful enough after the previous season to be in the top two or three picking, or they managed to "somehow" trade up to select in the top two or three spots.
Its not exactly a secret about how well Junior's extremely talented father played, no matter what mostly Cowboys fans think, who are old enough to remember, and still argue about Sanders vs Smith up to this "Barry" day...heh!!.
Anyway, who do you think that the Lions would have to trade, who would be good enough to pry the "best" possible pick away from another team, in order to move up that high in the first round?
Fairley?
Suh?
Fairley +Suh??
Megatron?
A now very seasoned and elite "veteran" QB in Stafford?
Both??
It is very possible that offering both Calvin and Matt by then STILL wouldn't be enough to pry that pick out of another teams hands, b/c their FO would be virtually "ridden out of town on a rail" if they dared to or far better still, were stupid enough to give the Detroit Lions out of all teams, the second coming of Barry Sanders in his son...haha!!
