They can restructure several contracts much like we did to create room. Sam Baker, Ovie Mughelli and Mike Turner are three that can be restructured.
I know, but its not just about that. Samuel has no incentive to accept a new contract that pays him less than $10 mil a year, and thats simply not good value for any team, even if they can fit it.
Samuel's options:
1. Accept a new contract from a team that trades for him. Most likely, this deal will average significantly less than the $10-$11 mil average he's going to make over the next 2 years.
2. Eagles can't trade him, so they release him. Now, any contract a team was offering during trade talks is on the table, and has probably increased since he's on the open market.
3. Eagles don't trade or cut him. He makes over $10 mil this year.
Option 1 is clearly the most unattractive. Unless someone agrees to let him keep the money still on his contract (restructuring just pushes the cap hit into the future), he won't sign a new deal.
