Get StartedI think it all depends on how confident the front office and coaching staff is that they can get a #2 WR in the 2nd round. If they're confident they can get a #2 in the second round who can make a big impact in year one, then take a guy like Gilbert with the 10th pick.
But I'd hate for the Lions to miss on another round 2 WR and leave Calvin with no WR talent around him again.
regardless of what actually happens, i'll be ok with it.
scenario 1) trade up for Watkins. perfect... we solidify our WR core for the foreseeable future and really make opposing defensive coordinators have nightmares about how to cover everyone.
scenario 2) stand pat and take a good/great player (CB, WR, S) and hope that we can get another good/great player in the 2nd.
scenario 3) trade back to pick up extra picks and draft an impact player (and possibly package picks to get back into the first round, who knows).
ya I don't really see how you can fuck this up. im sure mayhem will find a way. Technically if 3 qbs that aren't great value are getting picked in the top 10.....then the value should be great if you sit at 10. Gilbert may have combined himself to go before our pick....and im kinda afraid to see what we have left over at that point that fits the needs for our team. Post combine has Barr sliding cause hes a "tweaner" with out much explosiveness. You might be looking at a guy like Lewan...which would definitely not be a sexy pick in my eyes. If gilberts gone....id want a trade down I think.
maybe i should have specified the one thing that i'd be pissed off about... taking Lewan. i want nothing to do with that POSya I don't really see how you can fuck this up. im sure mayhem will find a way. There's more out there than Watkins and Gilbert for us at 10. You can't really fk up this draft unless maybe you trade up for a WR. And we need more than a WR or CB. We could use a DE, a LB, a S etc..there has to be someone there at 10 if Gilbert goes early.
Everyone thinks different. At 10 when 3 picks were qbs that shouldnt have gone that high....alot of people wouldnt agree with reaching for need like a safety. Alot of people wouldnt see that as very good value. Trading down to 15-20 and shooting for what's left between pryor or haha would be fine value...but id still argue there'd be better options that fit need there.

It's true that we need more than a WR and CB this draft. But there are very few guys who would be good value at 10 that fit the positions you listed. I could maybe see us taking Barr, but the taking the 3 other guys below would be bad value at #10.
DE: Anthony Barr
LB: CJ Mosely
S: Haha Clinton-Dix, Calvin Pryor
If both Watkins and Gilbert are gone:
1st choice: trade down
2nd choice: take either Mike Evans or Eric Ebron (if we don't resign Pettigrew)
