It's going to take more changes then that to douse this tire fire.

Get StartedBaby steps. Maybe a new coach here and there will help. Also thrilled the OL coach is gone even though they promoted within..
is the new coach going to magically shit out 30 guys with talent that will be quality depth and be able to strengthen the special teams? Cause mayhew doesn't draft guys like that. He drafts linebackers then they get cut the following year.

So lets keep a bad coach because we have no talent. Brilliant.
just sayin....ST doesn't have much to do with coaching. You run down the field...shed blocks....stay in your lanes or follow your responsibilities....make a fucking tackle. You can have frikken Lombardi coach our special ed group....they still would suck. stop trading away 4th round picks and our ST will get better.
I don't agree with that. You can have ST schemes. Its not just run, locate ball carrier and tackle.
scheme shmeem....run down the field and either blast someone or make a tackle. Problem is all our guys are the ones that get blasted.
Lions did great in coverage following the bye. Scheme schmeem. And it wasn't Whitehead who got blasted on the kickoffs. Osgood, a normal special teams ace missed the tackle on the Viking punt return and was out of his gap on the Harvin return. Titans Graham got hurt on the throw back kick causing a low punt and Green got blasted on the kickoff.
Honestly there is no scheme for kickoff cover. That was the reason Schwartz himself gave as to why they wouldn't fire the ST coach. I'll look it up if you don't believe me. Our late round depth guys are unmotivated talentless bums, who will get cut for next years bums a la Doug Hogue.
There are gaps and if you're not in it holes happen. Speedy guys like Harvin can make you pay. Osgood is a good special teamer he should know better. If there are 2 missed tackles, there could be a TD.
I'll make a bet with you. I bet one of Lewis or Whitehead starts in 2013 and does well at OLB. Not just as good as Durant or Levy but a solid starting LB.

Late round picks develop. Writing of Whitehead and Lewis already is absurd. Palmer played just as well as Levy too
when? when do late round picks develop? Late round picks have never developed on this team....ever.
