i agree with LKP in regards to his observations on Ebron. Hes a dynamic pass catching threat and would be huge for this offense. Fauria is a big body in the red zone...that's about it.
As far as my predictions. When you put out a thread like this with fairly informative fans who all have a good idea of the make up of the team.....and we get THIS many different responses....its a good indication that 10 is not a good spot for us to draft. THIS many responses means there not that 1 or 2 guys there that would fit a good need or value or, ideally, you want both out of a top 10 pick. With that being said....id hope we could find a trade partner to move down. Any trade partner from 13-25 would do. There just isn't good value at 10. Now if were stuck there I agree with a lot of the names you guys have said...ill list my preferences in order:
1) gilbert
positive - its obvious we need help iomn the secondary and he might be the best corner in the draft. Athletically hes ridiculous and throw in the return ability for added value.
negative - He wouldn't be guaranteed to even contribute year 1. He might not even be a starter.
2) Whatever Tackle falls
positive - This is te positon im counting on other teams needing to jump up to get at 10. Theres 4 quality top 15 type tackles in the draft. If we select one we have our bookends for the next 10 years. Reiff did a great job at LT but he could technically be better suited at RT. Investing in Stafford success is a common theme in this organization.
negative - its not a drastic need and you stunt Waddles progression. Waddle may have deserved a shot to show what he has given last years play.
3) Ebron
positive - his value is there....
negative - but the need might not be now that we resigned Pettigrew. top 10 TEs are usually a little more well rounded in all facets of the game. Hes viewed more as the dynamic playmaker and not so much as a blocker.
4) Donald
positive - If things aren't going well with Suh and Fairley is out of the future plans....DT becomes an immediate need next year.
negative - questionable size for the position....10 might be a slight reach as far as value is concerned.
5) HHCD
positive - we have zero safety depth. He can cover anyone on the field (TE WR RB)
negative - HHCD is not a top 10 caliber player. Ihedigbo signing becomes absolete.
The one note id make.....I wouldn't touch Evans with a 30 foot pole. Theres too much quality WR depth in this draft to jump at a jump ball back shoulder type WR that doesn't not create separation due to his route running. Every highlight tape I watch is johnny football making the play for him....all he has to do is jump and catch. Hes the guy id stay away from at 10.
