Lions interested in trading up for Clowney?

Saw a rumor the other day that the Lions were discussing a trade up with Houston for that #1 pick, but I don't remember where I saw it.

Supposedly the discussions were the #1 and the #33 for Suh.

Since I am still of the opinion that Suh is un-tradeable, and all the rumors seem retarded, I didn't pay any attention to it. Might have been on Yahoo.

If this were the case.....and we got #1 and #33 for Suh and got to dump his giant contract.....Mayhew should INSTANTLY be named Exec of the Year.

And, then deal the #1 overall to the highest bidder...pick up another second...Mayhew GM of the Decade.

There is no way in hell that Houston would give up the #1 overall pick and the first pick in the second round then have to pay Suh $12M a year. Makes NO SENSE AT ALL!!!

Suh is a sure thing and is worth 12 million per year. Plus as you can see by Suh's first contract (5 year 63 million), aka 12.6 per year, Suh's cap number does not have to be 12 million each season. In fact, Suh has only ever played one season with his cap number at 12 million or over. 2014 would be his second year out of 5.

3.1 in 2010,12 in 2011,6.5 in 2012,10.4 in 2013 and then 22.4 in 2014

Clowney is 6.5 million per year. And he's your typical rookie gamble.

And if they do sign Suh this summer, they can spread the base salaries over an extra year which lowers the cap number.

Clowney isn't a 3-4 OLB either. Matching up suh opposite watt could be more intriguing than clowney and watt for that reason. To be hones though were the ones with no leverage and that is worth something in the eyes of HOU. If anything I could see a trade straight up Clowney for Suh. I don't see any situation where were getting multiple high round picks....

Agreed I think top pick for Suh is way more likely. That way Houston is assured of a 2nd round QB they like with pick 33. And agreed Suh fits Houston better than Clowney.

Detroit still benefits. Cap space (could be used to re-sign Fairley before 2015), Clowney/Ansah combo locked down for 4 years together. And then you have options at pick 10 but Donald fits then. Clowney/Ansah/Donald locked down for 4 years together relatively cheap could be big.

Im ready to be excited about our roster. bush brought on some excitement last year. Clowney/Ansah/Donald would get me fired up about our defense :D

If that happens I won't say one bad word about him for at least a week.

We would probably be around 14 million under the cap in 2015 if that happened too with Rob Sims and Nick Fairley to sign. And Hilliard and Ashlee Palmer for depth/special teams.

cap space...you have been preaching that they are fine with cap space...not worries there!

They can handle an extension easily. But we would have a ton more. I would still rather sign suh instead of gamble on clowney.

I never said we have to trade just giving the options and the scenario if we did
