Lions Off Season Thread

Nobody wanted Austin I see, stuck with him, maybe an entire off season will help him come up with a better scheme for a pass rush

Lions re-signed Mulhbach. Let the long snapper competition begin again with Landes

That'll be a heated battle. Get your popcorn ready for the long snapper competition.

Only the freaking Lions draft a long snapper.

Post Combine Mock v1.0

1) Hassan Reddick WLB, Temple

If he wasnt a first rounder before, he will be now post combine. Freak athlete makes the transition from edge rusher to LB. Showed the ability to drop into coverage during senior bowl/combine drills. 4.52 40 sealed it for me.

2) Chris Godwin WR, PSU

Obviously, Stafford needs MOAR weapons. Cant get it done unless you put superstars all around him. Nice size/speed combination to play outside opposite Jones. Move Tate inside. 4.42 40 at combine.

3) Jake Butt, TE Michigan

Ebronfail. Time to get a real TE. Butt adds a ton of value here after a post injury drop.

4) Tarell Basham, DE Ohio

Thought this was one of the better looking DEs at the combine. Great value from a relatively unknown MAC player. Hed start opposite Ansah day 1.

Reiff back or Ricky Wagner, Kevin Zeitler (or Ron Leary or Warford back) and Logan Ryan would be a nice haul. Maybe a decent outside WR like Garcon at the right price (which moves Tate to slot a lot more).

Would love Hightower or Campbell too.

We'll see where Quinn spends the money very soon.

Wagner is coming at a high price but worth it. Hightower too. Would love Garcon to replace Boldin.

Brandon Copeland resigned for 630k. Special teams guy

Been like 7 long snappers drafted in 15 years. This guy could have easily been had in free agency. Throwing away picks on fucking long snappers, give it a rest. Team could have maybe actually done good scouting and found someone that would be valuable long-term. Instead they are stuck with a guy who won't even play.

He was a late rd pick. Who fucking cares? Keep crying about it though lol. You're right though.....the Lions scouts and probably Quinn were worried that the nearest Chipotle was going to close and they were super duper hungry and needed to eat lol, so they just wasted a pick on a LS. Get over yourself, tard.

6th round pick is not a big deal. I get the idea. You get a long snapper on a cheap deal for 4 years and you don't want to have to rely on undrafted free agency competition after the draft to get the best in Landes. We'll see if Landes wins the job finally. He got hurt last year so he gets another shot.

Well, just like the first version, I can't stand the 2nd version. Off to the ignore list again. I'll have conversations with people who actually are worth my time.

Just to point out, people should go back a few years and read this board when the Lions used a 5th rounder and Drafted Sam Martin. It was the same crap. "You don't draft a punter. Wasted pick. Stupid management"... and I know you guys remember it.

I doubt we'd find one fan today that isn't pretty darned glad we "wasted a pick" on a punter who has been this good.

Fans are like mockingbirds, always chirping, always beaking, often saying very little. I'm as guilty as anyone, and there's a reason none of us get paid a dime to make draft picks.

I can actually justify a punter that late in the game because he's such an active participant on the team. Long snappers are a dime a dozen and you can pick up any one off the practice squad to get the job done. It's not like there are "elite" long snappers, as long as you can whip a football under your legs and get it into a somewhat large target, you'll be fine.

I've never been one of those guys who claims things look easy or all you have to do is catch the damn ball. But long snapping is one of those things that anyone who's somewhat in good shape could pick up.

I've seen bad long snappers before. I don't believe they're a dime a dozen. Plus he was 210th pick. Imo, not worth sweating over.

Mission accomplished......

Too easy.
