Lions OTA's

Pride Of Detroit Lions Blog Podcast Detroit Lions Week 1 OTA recap, contract ?holdouts?? 60 minutes.
The PODcast crew breaks down the first week of OTAs, and the contract situations for Slay and Harrison.

Let?s be honest with ourselves. There isn?t a lot we can glean from Organized Team Activities. No jobs are going to be won in May, and even if the Lions are shaking up their formations on the offense or defense, there is no guarantee the Lions will be operating that way come September.

So this week?s podcast, we take a step back and recap Week 1 of OTAs with a little bit of caution. Sure the highlights of Teez Tabor?s and Jahlani Tavai?s interceptions were fun to watch, but do they mean anything in the grand scheme of things? Probably not.

But here?s what we do know. Damon Harrison Sr. and Darius Slay, who are both reportedly seeking new contracts, were not present during Week 1 of OTAs. Since these are completely voluntary, is it a big deal? Is there a holdout coming? That?s our main topic on this week?s PODcast.

This week on the PODcast:
Small observations from OTAs. Jeremy notes the full versatility on display for the Lions, especially at the tight end position.

Darius Slay and Damon Harrison absences: Is it too early to give these guys extensions? Which should the Lions prioritize? Does it make sense for the Lions to let either of these guys walk? Does it even matter that they?re missing OTAs?

Way Back Machine takes us to Santa Clara for Week 2: Lions at 49ers.
Could Snacks have changed the outcome? Did the Lions get screwed by the hold on Tracy Walker?s potential game-winning interception? What other takeaways can we pull from this game with the benefit of hindsight.

Mailbag talks about Matthew Stafford?s chugging ability, visiting Portsmouth and why booking Lions players is hard.

A Hard Knocks announcement is due soon and a reminder of the five teams that are ineligible to say no:
* 49ers
* Giants
* Lions
* Raiders
* Redskins
