Lions Release Statement On Suh

"He was well-respected for his ability, but everybody kind of knew who he was," Slauson said. "He wasn't well-liked."

My post was in reference to "he wasn't well liked"

Its always easy to say shit after the fact. 'Oh yeah we all knew he was dirty".

Oh my bad. Lol

I think Slauson didn't like him because he probably got his shit pushed in during every practice, so he took this opportunity to get him the only way he can.

That's why I'm saying the media is fucking clueless. It's easy to go grab an Offensive Lineman who got owned every day for 3 or 4 years and get his opionion - fuels the arguement. But you won't see them asking Amukamara or people who actually benefited by having Suh on their team if they "liked him" or not.

Shit is all blowing out of proportion anyways.

It got ugly, he lost his cool, he appeared to stomp a guy on the arm - who had absolutely nothign wrong with him.. I think if Suh wanted to break his arm, he would have - neither here nor there. He got flagged and tossed - it probably cost us the Packers game, or at least started the downward spiral.... Fine the guy, sit him 1 game... whatever. Anything beyond that is, imho, excessive.

Slauson also admitted he gets into fights with everyone. Here are some comments from him and Rex Ryan.

Rex Ryan came up with one tongue-in-cheek solution Friday.

"I'll be honest with you, I think the young man, he should be released ... and come to the Jets," Ryan joked. "I'm just throwing that out there. I don't think he's that good of a player. I don't know about the incident and all that jazz, but we'll take him. We'll sacrifice that way."

Ryan then turned a little more serious.

"I don't even know what to say on it," Ryan said. "You've seen things like that happen on the field before. It's an emotional game."

Jets offensive lineman Matt Slauson, who played with Suh at Nebraska, sounded off on the topic Friday.

"Somebody needs to get him under control, because he's trying to hurt people," Slauson told the New York Post. "It's one thing to be an incredibly physical player and a tenacious player, but it's another thing to set out to end that guy's career."

Slauson said last year that he and Suh used to mix it up in practice while in college.

"There were times we got into fights, during spring ball, during camp, but I kind of fought everyone," Slauson said then.

Look I am not saying what he did was right because it wasnt but let's cut the guy some slack. Yes he needs to learn controlled aggression until the whistle but what he did as far as the kick wasnt that bad. I have seen worse anyone who has watched football has. Suh has done a lot for this team since he got here. He is the reason our defense has an identity. I could care less if they call us dirty. I would rather have a tough and dirty rep then the laughable pushover one we had before he got here. It's only his 2nd year and he will learn the hard way. I am glad Suh is a Lion and proud to be a fan of his. He made a mistake and he will pay a price.

I agree to a certain degree. But get used to seeing 15 yard personal foul penalties against us....probably even more now. Suh and the Lions in genereal will never get the benefit of the doubt because of that label. Suh earned his label this past weekend but now it will most likely filter down to the rest of the team.

And Suh is only 27 games into his career, has been voted the dirtiest player in the league by his peers and is now facing a suspension for trying to moronically stomp on a guy. So anything he does that's even close to being considered "questionable" may warrant additional and longer suspensions.

He said he doesnt care what people think etc etc.. Well, that being the case, the general consensus for sane people is that if you're "dirty" then there will be shots taken at you as well. I fault him for losing his cool when he should be aware of the fact that his style of play will be exploited. If he is gonna clean up his image then hes gonna have to turn into jesus and take the bullshit calls/chop blocks/headlocks etc..

The packers saw brandon mcdonald in the game and it was officially over from there. So what if they may have done it to suh? He was in control of his own actions. You're dirty now, so what looks bad is bad, and what doesnt look bad still looks bad. I really dont care how long they suspend him for, because the shit doesn't work for him like it does for other players, and he has to learn that the hard way.

So longer suspension tells Suh "ut oh". Doubt it. Plus what's the precedent, my guess is one game. Last week two guys were swinging, didn't even get tossed. The difference, a helpless defender so to speak. But as a Lions fan, I don't want the suspension to be longer so he can "learn" from it.

2 guys throwing punches is normal in the context of sports...that happens. Now if one of those guys walked up to the other one and punched him as hard as he could straight in the nuts, he would have crossed the line and people would have an issue with that. Same with Suh's stomp (and Haynesworth's - Suh's was not as bad). He crossed a line with that move and that's why he's getting so much heat.

Mike Tyson's most famous boxing incident is biting Holyfield's ear off. That was a fight and a lot of things happen..."dirty stuff" like punches below the belt happen, headbutts happen...but biting a guy's ear off doesn't and that's why he lost his boxing license for it.

Now Suh's stomp isn't nearly as serious as Haynesworth's or the Tyson incident but he crossed a definite line in the sports world. It's not something that happens all the time.

They have to do something. I would rather see him suspended for a few games (considering we have some line depth) rather than see him cost us points/the game by getting ejected. When houston left the game and mcdonald went in we were royally fucked. The only hope we had on defense was to get some kind of quarterback pressure and then we lose our best dlineman.

Atleast hes less dillusional a couple days after the fact and apologized. Still going to be 2 games cause the media obviously blew this story up bigger than it is. NFL has to give him 2 games or there will be an outrage.

2 games would be unfair. Have to take on account that the defensive player didn't get hurt. Does 2 games fit the crime, I don't think so.

Media always blows everything up well beyond reality.

I think anything less than 5 games and there's going to be a story.

Pretty much no matter what Goodell decides, he'll be scrutinized for it, and the media will throw a big shit fit

He'll get 2 games, maybe 1. I'll bet my mortgage on it.....

So if i bet I get to pay your mortgage? Oh yeah I want in on that, lol.

lol at that fat fuck Ryan's comment. Love to hate, everybody would take him in heartbeat. Oh and then it comes out with Slauson that he fought everybody. The first article made Suh look like the bad guy. Now it doesn't look so bad.

Maybe what will make people happy is to put Suh in a confessional with Tebow. Tebow can forgive Suh for his sins and everybody can be happy.
