Lions Sign DT Tyrunn Walker

Walker is more pass rush DT than run defense. And versitile can play nose or 5 tech in a 3-4.He could be 3 techor nose here in 4-3.

Ngata is basically Fairley/Mosley into one guy if he plays all 16 unlike Fairley.

Still got a draft too. Malcolm Brown would look nice next to Ngata with Walker/Reid backing them up and Jones sliding inside on passing downs some.

Waddle/Lucas I have faith in them still especially if we get Blalock to fill LG. Enough to take Brown.

Walker has a lower cap number than Mosley did last year. But he's a super super super cheap Suh pass rush replacement really. Or a more expensive Reid/Fluellen replacement if we draft Brown or Goldman.

Ngata is an updgrade over Fairley/Mosley and will provide similar pass rush to Fairley hopefully.

We're still thin at DT, especially when you consider Ngata hasn't played 16 games since 2011.

I can't imagine us walking out of the draft next month without a player we can be excited about at the position.

So far though, they have picked up two versatile linemen who can play either DT or DE, and can play in either the 3-4 or the 4-3. That's promising. Go get us another big fattie like a Wilfork or a Raji and let's just put 3 fatties on the line in a 3-4 and see who they kill.

We have about 5.5 million left. Less 1.8 for the draft. Another 1.8 for top 53 and PS.

If we want Blalock, we'll restrucutre someone. Not a big deal with Suh gone in 2016 and 17 million of dead money off the books. We'll have almost 30 million in room next year.

1.8 for the draft? That seems optimistic/not possible. Last year's #23 was 1.5 alone. That was with minimum base salary in year 1.

Draft only counts 1.8 of extra space. It's the exact number of extra space that will count. It's not optimistic ,it's not a guess, it's fact of extra space that we need compared to right now for the draft. Round 3, 6 and 7,7 guys are added and other 500k guys drop off.

This shows how much the draft in total costs. But you need to realize the Round 3 and 6, 7 wash out with the guys that drop off.

1st round pick 1.4-500K (drop off from lowest guy). 700K for Round 2-500K drop off.

So really only 1.1 in extra space needed.

5 million for year 2. I already accounted for that in 2016.

Ngata only played 60 percent of all available defensive snaps when healthy. Suh 81 percent. We still need a starter caliber DT. I'll be shocked if DT isn't also BPA (since we only take BPAs like Ebron regardless of position right?).

Ah yes, totally forgot about the drop off.

at the least hes smart.....saw a chance to come play next to ngata for a year and jumped at it.
He probably thinks he can come play next to Ngata for a year become a starter and get his multi year deal next year. Who knows he might have turned down multi year deals to have a chance at starting and producing...... never know.
