Lions UDFA's

Wouldn't suck for me at all. An UDFA comes in and plays so well he buries round one picks on the depth chart? Sounds like a dream come true for us. Everyone wants to find that next Tom Brady late rounder or Priest Holmes undrafted guy that goes to the Hall of Fame.

The best player plays in my book. The round they were drafted in means nothing to me.

As of today, all these guys are Lions. Not round one Lions. Not round five Lions. They are Detroit Lions. And I hope there is a ton of hidden talent in there that takes us to the Super Bowl.

Absolutely... just in terms of cap is why it would suck. It would be near impossible to trade Droptimus, and I would prefer they keep Enron actually since he might improve whereas with Droptimus there is little hope.

No I don't but I think he's got a real shot of making the team. He steals Wynn's job. On a side not they've gone SPARQ crazy after it landed the Vikings McKinnon.

Seems like a solid UDFA pick up. He was making Nebraska look pretty bad, which for a small school, that's pretty impressive. Granted it is 'highlight' tape, so difficult to say what his bad runs looked like. At least every tackle was showing him moving forward, even that first highlight where he moved two Nebraska LBs and gained an extra couple yards.

They did show him dropping a swing pass, so that indicates to me they weren't just cherry picking and actually were showing all of his plays from that game.

Still, who were the last really good white RB in the NFL? Not talking about FBs, I'm talking about Half Back/Tail Back/...whatever you want to label the Primary Back these days. John Riggins comes to mind, that was in the 1980's. Mike Alstott was with Tampa Bay in the late 90's early 00's. Any others that I'm missing? Both of those guys were considerably larger than Zenner, but I do love the nic Nyquil since his initials are ZZ and he could be a super sleeper. That would have to stick, IMO.

Peyton Hillis ran for 11 TDs not that long ago and is still a backup in the league. Danny Woodhead is a solid contributor when healthy. If we can get a guy like that as an UDFA I'd call it a win.

My wife is a big Cornhusker fan, and I actually watched that game with her. I remember thinking the kid had a certain wow factor, but it's hard to say how a kid from such a small school would perform on a bigger stage. And then, I forgot who he was to be honest.

Here's another link on him:

There's a lot to like there. Good size, good speed, but there's more I see. I like the way his legs never stop moving, and he fights for the extra yard. I like the vision I see, he finds some fairly small holes and makes good cuts. He's got solid hands making some good catches on very bad throws.

I love the longer runs, when you can see his legs don't slow down. He's not running out of gas after 40 yards, he's motoring for the end zone.

To be honest, I see quite a bit to be excited about here. This kid can play, but it's still hard to know how he will perform against a pro caliber defense. He makes D-2 defenses look silly, but those aren't D-1 defenses, which aren't pro defenses.

I can certainly see why they gave him a chance to come in and compete for a spot. I think, as was already said, he's got a chance to beat Winn out for a roster spot.
