Lions work out CB Roc Charmicheal

Should have kept Greenwood and dumped Kellen Moore.

Shouldve drafted a corner round 1. Doesn't even matter which one. Just an attempt at a potentially good player. Scrubs, that's all mayhew signs or trades for

Let's see how it plays out. Slay and Bentley were high picks and have some experience now. Mathis did well last year.

Mathis is old as dirt, relying on him playing 16 games is suicide

Waiting for his wheels to fall off, with nobody to replace him is one hell of a plan. Thinking ahead is not a good thing

Greenwood will be back on the field in Honolulu Blue before the season is over due to injuries or poor play by a CB currently on the roster, that is what my crystal ball says. They cut him knowing they can go back and get him if/when necessary, but by cutting him they give him that little extra motivation next time, like Joique Bell and others. There have been many eventual Pro Bowl players who got cut at one time and it motivated them to be better if not the best. Heck, same could be said for hiw Rams cut Sam.

Zyxt, is it possible that Greenwood is just not that good of an NFL player? This isn't a cut and resign deal. He's been cut and released like 50 times.

Maybe he's just not that good/ready for the big time. All we know about him is that he has great measureables... That's not going to cut it.

He filled in last year and was not the weakest link when he did. He outlasted all the other CBs prior to being the last CB cut. Those are some of the reasons. I also think he has yet to reach his ceiling. However, my opinion means little, obviously. Just seems the NFL overall is thin at CB (thanks to the NFL rule changes mostly) so if/when a Lions CB gets injured, the scrap pile is not exactly populated by guys who are definitively better than Greenwood, and he is familiar with the team. No issue in trying out other guys too, I just think before season is over he is back on the team. Hopefully he is remaining highly focused and is even more determined to improve while not on the team.

We're talking about a team who decided Orvlosky was worth signing and then keeping..so being the last cut really means nothing.

one last thing, I admit to having a soft spot for the underdog small school type of kid who ends up being a pro bowler type of story, James Harrison excluded...just never liked him at all, but still respect what he overcame.

I would like to think that Chris Greenwood is better than Roc Carmichael, who is rated poorly wherever you look. The Lions must think real low on Greenwood.

intriguing cb cuts:

Dominique Franks, CB (Bal connection)

Derek Cox, CB

Kelvin Hayden, CB (bears intel)

Leon McFadden, CB

Brandon Harris, CB

Dimitri Patterson, CB

Chase Minnifield, CB

to be honest I don't care who we pick up off the waiver wire...none of them should ever see the field. Slay/Mathis should start, Bentley/Lawson dime/nickel. If anything we should be trading for an upgrade over slay/mathis. If any of the 4 starters get injured were screwed regardless. Other than that...who cares really?

Kick the tires on all of them.

We might be screwed anyways..
