Lions work out Willis

Pettigrew was the best TE in that draft by far. And probably the only one still on an NFL roster. I still wish a TE wasnt on the Lions radaar during that draft. Coulda had Hakeem Nicks or Lesean McCoy.

Its a decent list. Jared cook, beckum, casey, myers....all taken after round 3. As you pointed out its more about the value we missed on. I'd take any of tes listed if it meant we had nicks or shady.

Even though I poked some fun at him, I'm a Pettigrew supporter and have no issue admitting that...I also have no issue saying that last year was a disappointment. Last game was encouraging and is hopefully a sign of him righting the ship. I still like the pick, but do want to see what I think everyone else on the board does too...better ball security and less drops.

It was a good pick in that a TE, especially one that can block, is big for a rookie QB.

I think Schefflers decline has hurt us more than Pettigrews bad year. Scheffler stretched the field and was an occasional slot mismatch for teams that had tiny slot CB's. He is an afterthought now. I would rather see Durham take Schefflers spot on pass downs.

Pettigrew is a good pick if used correctly. Last week was a great example of how he can be used effectively in the Lions offense. IMO, what we need most is a TE that can stretch the field the way Scheffler used to.

The Jimmy Graham's and Vernon Davis's of the world don't just fall from trees, but if Cleveland REALLY is open to trading anyone on their roster.....I would give up a high pick for Cameron. He would be as effective in this O as a good 2nd WR.

Agreed. No doubt about it. If Pettigrew were a Texan or 49er......teams with strong run games the last 5 years......he would be a bigger "star" than he is now.

Chud was a TE in college. If he likes Cameron there is no way he will be on the trade block. TE's have always flurished in his offenses.

But isn't that the problem? Were not a power run team like sf. We pass the ball 800 times. But we draft a te that's drops the ball all the time and leshoure who is worthless in every situation except short yardage situations. Just seems like we need a better plan.

I don't think that was the game plan at the time of the '09 draft, though. I think they were looking to build a power run game and help protect their franchise QB.

Things change. I'll say this, though I am by no means Schwartz's biggest fan, I would MUCH rather have a coach that utilizes what he has over one that tries to force a certain type of offense with players that don't fit.
