Lo Jack and Lacey in Minn

Countess and Ryan comes to mind. He also taught better technique to the players that were already there such as Martin. Mike Martin talked many times how the defense was an afterthought with RR. The DL coach was an old WR coach or something like that. And the CB's would not only play 15 yds off but they would also still be backpedaling 30 yds down the field

Ryan was a redshirt freshman and countess committed to rr. All his players. Taylor was hokes only player that played and he was strictly special teams that year

I tend to mock a little more based on need than mayhew drafts. So if im reaching for the best avail corner i think is on the board PRIOR to a draft on a mock compared to mayhew who reaches for an injured WR that has titus, nate and CJ automatically infront of him...then ya...sue me.....criticize me all you want....but i just think its a smarter way to go. They went as far to say they had him on their board in the first round.....something obviously no other team did since he wasnt selected until late 2nd.

As far as mercilus goes. I had the forsight to see that mayhew already fucked up the avril saga and that KVB was worthless. So again....im matching a need with a quality player. Again again....i dont have the luxory of seeing who is still on the board and in no way did i think reiff would fall that far. I always said Reiff was a good pick...i just dont agree with how they used him. After the season they consider kicking him inside?....what about last season?....youre telling me they couldnt have worked with him and he wouldnt have been better than peterman....a guy you let go? When you realize your team blows you couldnt have got him some snaps at RT over a guy you didnt even try to resign? Nothing? welp atleast now he knows how to play fullback.

Now...if i was a team with no holes then maybe id think about drafting the way mayhew does and grab a bunch of guys that might contribute a couple years down the road. But ive never targeted the lions as being that type of team. Their defenses have been horendous at best, RG/C has sucked for years etc etc etc.

Takes a genious to figure out that a WR with a 15 yard head start can run by a guy starting a back pedal lmao.

If you are talking about the best CB drafted last year then the steal would be Janoris Jenkins who outplayed the three dudes taken in the top 15. But if you draft him and he goes crazy than you shit on mayhew for that. See there's no winning with whiners and pessimists.

its not pessimism when they really are terrible lol. im just stating fact. 4 wins buddy. 4.

Mayhew needs about 4 players from this draft to play significant minutes and produce for this team.....hes never done that before. Before the FA period i said he needed atleast 3 startes in FA which hes never done before. He did it and i gave him props for it. If he fills some holes via draft namely cb2, DE1, olb1, OT then ill give him props for fielding an actual team in 2013. But if day 1 starters are bartell, palmer, willie young and fox...then i think he sucks at his job and were not going to be a very good team.

Agreed thats what we need, and he has done it before in 09 With Staff, Pett, Delmas, Levy.

You could do that with any team. Packers need 4 players. Packers need a safety over Jennings/McMillian, Left Tackle for Newhouse who sucks, a starting RB who they all suck and pass rushing DE as Worthy got hurt late.

The Lions were much much much better than a 4 win team. The 0-8 finish sucked but they have the talent on this team RIGHT NOW to move on and win a bunch of games no matter what rookies we have. It's up to mainly Stafford and limiting turnovers.

Delmas has talent....but as far as production and playing significant minutes goes....well he doesnt.

Im not high on levy. Many of the board member keep calling it a win for mayhew that his 3rd rd lb is still starting for us. I think of it more as you could replace him with practically anyone in the nfl and they would do just as good of job.....not sure how much youd consider that a plus.

Staff was a top 20 qb last year making top 3 money.....he needs to step it up.

Pettigrew weve had lengthy discussions on this board about him. Feelings are all over the place. Some see hiim as the next comming of jesus christ. Others see his brick hands, unability to run any route other than a 6 yd curl, unability to create plays after hes caught the ball and the fact that although hes suppose dto be this superior run blocker weve had no success ever running the ball since hes been here.

so as far as 4 guys that produce out of that draft....ill give you 2.5 out of the 4 lol.

I deem Palmer, Bentley and Corey Hilliard starters. Just because you don't see them as starters hughes doesn't mean they can't be good starters. Palmer and Hilliard have done well in the past. Bentley did solid fighting an injury. You know as much about them as you do the rookies. No hughes stamp of approval is needed before we start the season.

well now that youve deemed them starters mayhew should feel great about his job security. shit...we should just skip the draft.

We could skip the draft and win 10 games IMO if they signed Freeney. But we'll draft for fun.

And me deeming them starters is a play on you saying no way they are starters. They could be good starters. Some have done well in the past when starting for Detroit.

Good lord. Who's starting at right tackle and guard? Willie young and an emu star at de? Ninja you cray

Palmer and Hilliard are decent depth guys that can come in and do a decent job covering an injury. Bentley is a dime/nickel guy and has no business starting. He was in consideration last year for the job cause mayhew sucked at getting anyone else. Lacey was his competition?

Bentley can be a good corner with good fluid hips and can stick with guys.

Hilliard and Palmer can be solid starters. They have proven that. I'd take Palmers coverage over Durants any day.

Bentley won the competition to start at corner the same way Homer Simpson won the competition to become an astronaut...by the two sweetest words in the English language de-fault. In fact the similarities are uncanny right down to Aaron Berry imploding like Barney did with some last minute drunken mayhem.

im sure mayhew gave him some pressure to start bentley since he knew his 1st and 2nd rd picks would be riding the pine lol.
